Everything went to hell from that night. The basilisk that attacked again, petrifying Colin Creevey, Hermione Granger and even a friendly ghost Nearly Headless Nick.

She knew the basilisk had a hunger for muggle-borns, after all, it was sent to purify the wizarding community.

Lucius Malfoy and Cornelius Fudge also visited Hogwarts, trying to close the school and blaming Hagrid once again.

She was sure Hagrid was innocent. How could a half-giant be a direct descendant to Salazar Slytherin?

And apparently, Quidditch was cancelled. She was almost glad it did, with all her nightly discoveries, she was completely drained of energy. She had clear bags under her eyes, and her cheekbones were a bit more prominent than usual.

Before she even noticed, she was distancing herself from Blaise and Daphne. The couldn't know she was trying to figure this out. She couldn't risk her friends getting hurt, even if she told them, they would beg to help her.

It was the usual day, she would not go to any of her dinner, breakfast or lunch, she would eventually go for some toast to the kitches, but that was about it. She couldn't rest, or eat properly whilst someone was commanding the basilisk.

"Why are you acting like this, Mor? Did we do anything to upset you? Blaise has some colorful words for you too, but I'm sure he'll spit them out with a greater passion. Just tell me Morrigan", asked a quizzically Daphne Greengrass before going to bed.

"Look Daphne, you can tell this to Blaise tomorrow too. I am looking for something important, okay? I won't tell you what it is or why. But please, don't pry on it. I am trying to keep you from harms way. This whole thing is bigger than it seems, alright? ", she answered, rubbing her head feeling a headache beginning to form.

"What is so important to you? You have been avoiding us like the plague, and we have given you your space, but is it so important that you are destroying your only friendship? Let me remind you Morrigan, that you are completely replaceable".

She tried not to flinch

"I am not replaceable. It's on your best interest not to know about this. Believe me, Daphs, this is important. Its not a mission to prove my heritage or to make my parents proud. This is so much important than that. I'm not sorry I am doing this. You'll understand soon, and when you do, don't come expecting an easy apology", she said strictly, leaving a confused Daphne.

She wanted to die inside. These few days had been completely miserable. She would sit alone at the library, skip lessons, ocassionaly walk around the castle at night for clues, and she also avoided her cousin. Aidan was already bothered studying for NEWT's, she did not want to become one more burden for him. And, with everything being uncertain, he was even more stressed.

She dug through her robes to find her wand. She clutched it in her hand when she was walking down a lonely corridor. She did not dare to go near the girl's bathroom and into the chamber. Not before she could have an elaborate plan.
