Her plan wasn't complete. She had one more thing to do. She had to do this. She needed to tell Draco Malfoy about everything.
She found him in the common rooms, with his usual brutes. His eyes gleamed with the green hue of the black lake. She pointed her head high and reached for him. He was sitting in a Green chair that screamed opulence.
She smiled to him as their eyes met.
"Malfoy, I need to have a word with you, privately would be better", she said, with her hands clasped in front of her.
He eyed her from head to toe.
"You kept things from me it seems. Why would I want to go with you? You made it clear, you chose Saint Potter and his friends over me-", he started.
"Draco, please"
It was the first time she had ever said his name, and the first time she pleaded to anyone but her friends.
His eyebrows furrowed and he stood up rapidly, examining her face. He took a step closer, and she suddenly inhaled his scents. It reeked of green apple, broompolish and parchment, like books.
"Why, Mor? Why did you do it? I told you not to look for trouble, and you did the opposite. Why?", he said, almost worriedly.
"I know, I won't apologize for that. Just please, Draco. Come with me. I promise I'll tell you everything. You need to know about this, even if your father disagrees", she said.
She outstretched her hand to him, wanting him to follow her. He eyed her palm and then her face. The grey orbs looked at her icy blues to find any lie or trap. He then took a step further and clasped his hand with hers.
She almost jumped at the touch. She thought he would push her hand, or grab her wrist, not make this touch that felt intimate for her. She almost blushed in the light. She did not like Malfoy, but this felt intimate for her.
Even more when he laced his fingers with hers. She gasped and wanted to unlatch her hand from his, but he still looked at her.
"I'll go, but Mor, next time, even if I warn you, I'll go with you, so you don't have to hide things from me. I'm tired of being kept in the dark. Didn't think I'd notice Potter's and Weasley's pathetic attempt in trying to become Crabbe and Goyle, I saw right past them. Did you think I didn't notice you sneaking out at night?-"
"Draco, please. Not here. Follow me", she finished.
With her hand in his, she leaded the boy to the Quidditch pitch. She inhaled, feeling free. She had not been outside for a long time. Her eyes closed in bliss.
She felt his stare. She felt the warmth of his hand in hers. She felt the warmth of his shoulder touching hers. She felt it all.
She sighed and sat in the stands, he followed suit.
"I saw everything, Mor. I saw how you showed up to practice with bags underneath your eyes. I noticed your attention lacking. I noticed you skipping breakfast, dinner and lunch. I witnessed how you skipped your lessons and how you instead spent all day in the bloody library. I could tell that you were losing weight and that you were drained. I even noticed how separate you became from Zabini and Greengrass. So, yes, do explain how this was as important as letting your bloody health falter?", he spat mercilessly.
She flinched and flung her arms around herself feeling self conscious. She was conservative, she knew everything in those castle walls, but she did not notice the grey eyed boy being as perceptive as her.
"Draco, what I am going to tell you is downright important. I need you in this plan. Later on, your father would probably make you do this, but I won't. I must tell you now because you deserve to know, and I need you by my side for it".
And so she did. She told him everything. She told him about making a Slytherin future. She told him that she needed him if he were to come back.
She felt it in her bones, it was not a matter of if he came back, more of when.
He listened intently and stared at her face the whole time. Sometimes, she would look him in the eye, but his gaze was so penetrating that she needed to shift her glance elsewhere.
She finished. She sighed in relief. His eyes were still on her.
He was unmoving and did not say a single word. His gaze was completely on her. She felt a fire curse through her body.
He then stood. Placed himself in front of her and kneeled.
She was dizzy. Her eyes scanned his. She was naseous.
What was Draco Malfoy doing?
"Mor, I believe you. I know you think this is for the best. I want to help you. I want to take some of your weight off. If that means going from a prince to a knight then so be it. I will be your knight in shining armor. Count me in, your Highness"
The prince of Slytherin bowed to no one, but here he was, on his knees for her. He was literally on his knees.
She scoffed.
"I'm no damsel in distress just yet, so don't get ahead of yourself. Thank you, Malfoy. I need all the Slytherin support I can get. I know that by default, Crabbe and Goyle are in. I need now Theodore Nott. I will speak to the team sometime next year. As of right now, the only people who know are Blaise, Daphne, Aidan and Snape. All Slytherins. Oh, and by the way, you can rest assured I won't meddle any further with Potter, he's a brute with no brain, literally", she said.
He laughed and stood up, taking her hand in his.
"So, back to Malfoy are we now? I think I like it when you say my name better- say it", he pleaded.
Her eyes widened. She didn't think she was even thinking clearly.
"Draco"
"Again"
"Draco"
With that, he swiveled in his feet and embraced the girl. She stiffened and stilled. She couldn't breathe properly. The only thing that she found so intoxicating was his scent.
"Mor, just promise me, you'll tell me everything, I can't have you hiding things from me, or taking the brunt by yourself. You are not alone, you have us now. Talking about us, I am sorry for what I did the first year. I-I wasn't thinking clearly. I resented you actually. Now I understand. You have been living with far more weight on your back than me. I'm so so-"
She did not even let him finish. She pressed herself against him and buried her head on his chest. His hands circled her waist and he rubbed her back soothingly. She did not know how many minutes they spent in an embrace, but all she knew was that she liked Draco Malfoy's friendship.
She unclasped from his embrace, suddenly feeling cold. She smiled and laughed at his confused face.
"Lets do this over again. I'm Morrigan. Just Morrigan, a pleasure to meet you", she said, outstretching her hand.
"Hi. I'm Draco. Just Draco. Its my pleasure to meet you, Morrigan".
He smiled. The first out of many smiles to come.
