It was Christmas season down at Echo Creek. The gang was hanging at Marco's place when Jackie suggested they have a secret Santa at their Christmas get-together of just them. After having to explain it to the non-humans, they all agreed to it. Everyone wrote their names on a slip of paper and put it in a hat.
"Ok guys, let's start," Marco said, grabbing the hat. "First is me, then Jackie, Chloe, Oscar, Pony, Kelly, Tom, Janna and Star. Got it everyone?" They all nodded and started picking out names.

But then, one day, everything changed. You're all I need, underneath the tree...

The Echo Creek mall was blaring with upbeat Christmas music as Jackie, Janna, Pony and I strolled around. We were looking for last minute gifts for our families and more stuff for our party later tonight. Everyone had already purchased their secret Santa gift... except me.
I got Marco and of course I was thrilled cause it was our first Christmas as a couple. But that's the thing, I want my gift to be special, and not just anything. It needs to be perfect.
I had accidentally told the girl's whose name I picked (I guess that's why it's secret Santa) so they were helping me pick the perfect gift, if I could find it.
I kept looking left and right between stores seeing if I could easily spot anything he might like.
"You know Star," said Jackie, drinking a smoothie, "Marco would love anything you get for him. It doesn't have to be all that."
"Yeah B-Fly. Like Earth Turd loves you so much it's disgusting. He wouldn't care at all."
I responded, "I know guys, but it's our first Christmas together. I want it to be special."
"What about that?" Janna said, pointing at a red hoodie. She never even looked up from her phone.
"Nah, he has a closet full already. No need for more." I sighed. This is harder than I thought.
My stomach started growling so we decided to take a break at the food court. I could really go for something. Matter in fact, I don't think I ate this morning.
Janna and Pony went to go get us a big plate of fries to eat. While Jackie and I were sitting, I laid my head on the cold table. I just stared off in the distance thinking that I might go home empty-handed.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up at Jackie. She gave me a smile and I smiled back, "Don't worry Star, we'll find something. Or maybe you can make him something on your own. That's sentimental."
I sat up. Make something? I never thought of that. I looked behind Jackie and saw something that caught my eye. It was like a green leaf. I raised my eyebrows and she seemed to notice because she gave me a confused look.
"Hey Jackie. What's that thing hanging by the door?" I pointed in that direction and she turned and looked at where I was pointing at.
She gave me a smug look, "Oh, that's a mistletoe. It's a Christmas thing we do here on Earth where when two people are under it, they have to kiss."
"That's so weird." I suddenly got a bright idea. "Jackie! Where can I buy it?"
"Uh, I think two stores down. But why?" she asked.
At that moment, Janna and Pony came back with our food.
I excitedly grabbed Jackie's hand, making her stand up. "Come on come on, get up!"
