"I've never been here before." I said looking around the neon lights.

Jax leaned against the booth, staring at the menu, "I don't get how you haven't been here before when it's one of the most popular diners in town."

I shrug, "Yeah well I don't get out much, I guess."

"Obviously."

I roll my eyes at him while he was focused on the pictures of food in front of him. I picked up the menu and I felt like a child again. It was like a comfort food wonderland. I felt my mouth salivating from all the beautiful masterpieces of burgers fries, drinks, desserts. But the one that caught my eye was the pancakes and giant toppings. I felt it call to my heart, to my soul.

A waiter approached our table, however I saw his steps wobble slightly as well as his smile falter when his eyes widen at the sight of Jax. But he still comes to us and offers a fake smile, "H-Hello there, can I take your o-order?"

Jax rumbles on his order, "I'll get the angus beef burger with spicy fries...and a beer." The waiter quickly scribbles it down on a slightly shaky hand. Poor guy. I felt bad for him.

He turns to me and I see a sheen of sweat form on his brow. I smile politely, hoping it will offer some kind of comfort, I felt around for my card as I say my order, "Hey can I please get the-" My sentence stops as I try to find my card. I felt my heart deflate in disappointment. I look to the guy, "Sorry, Ummm...nevermind. I'll just get a water."

"A water?" Jax looks at me like I'm crazy, "They have the best food here, you have to get something." He encourages.

I shook my head, "I'm not very hungry anyway. A water will be fine."

The waiter was about to leave when Jax spoke without breaking eye contact with me, "She's not finished her order."

The waiter steps back with a shaky smile, "I'm sorry, I assume that-"

I shook my head, "I realised I forgot my card so I'll just take the water."

"Good thing you weren't even gonna pay in the first place." Jax said giving the menu to the waiter, "Order what you want, it's on me."

my eyes widen and I shook my head,"Oh no, Jax. You can't do that. I'm seriously not hungry right now and I-"

"Milly," He eyes me, "It's fine. Order whatever you want. You looked like a kid who realised the cookie jar was empty when you didn't order...now get what you want."

"I know it's just I didn't think that you'd ever wanna-"

Jax rolls his eyes, "Calm down, I'm not proposing to you, I'm paying for your food. Now get what you want."

I bow my head and felt my cheeks heat up, "Right." I felt myself shuffle in my seat with excitement, "I'll get the double stack banana pancakes with extra chocolate, extra cream and sprinkles as well as extra wafer sticks, are those the caramel ones?" I asked curiously.

"Ummm yeah, they are."

"Okay I'll have extra of those then as well."

the waiter scribbled every down and then walked away. I turn back to Jax who was just watching me a little stunned.

I swallow self-consciously, "What?"

"I've just never heard a girl order like that before."

I smiled excitedly, "Yeah well, food is no joking matter. And I trust your word that the food here is good so I want the full experience."

Jax nods his head, "Makes sense. Well done."

We just sat there for a little while. I felt nervous being here in a social setting with Jax. Whenever we interact, there always something going. Something always dramatic occurring, but just hanging out in a restaurant together has made me ten times more nervous.
