Rain by watchmaker

It was the 24th of October and it was raining hard. Aware of the current weather, Aomine still practiced at the school's gym simply because he's bored.

He was the team's ace. Nothing can beat him but himself.

But today, his shots aren't as good as usual. Some of his shots didn't even make it in the basket.

He wiped a trickle of sweat from his forehead, breathing hard. He felt uneasy. Something was not right. He felt as though he was forgetting something important.

The gym's door suddenly opened, interrupting his thoughts. It was Momoi Satsuki. His childhood friend and the team's manager, walking as she scanned what seems to be data she collected for the team's next game. She did not notice he was there.

"Oi, what brings you here?" Aomine called out the pink-haired friend.

Momoi startled as she saw Aomine.

"Eh? Actually, what brings you here?" She emphasized the word "you".

"Tch. Are you really asking me that? Of course I'm here to practice," he answered back with that arrogant face of his.

Momoi rolled her eyes 'Here we go again.'

"Aren't you supposed to be with your girlfriend today?" She stated bluntly.

"Ha?" Aomine said, looking at her as if she said something ridiculous.

"What a poor girlfriend. Must be waiting out in the cold for someone who will never come." She sighed as she shook her head.

He stopped to think about what she said, and what he realized made him speechless.

He checked his phone. So that's why he was feeling uneasy.

He went to the locker room and changed into his casual clothes. He immediately went out of the gym along with an umbrella leaving Momoi alone.

'Good thing I didn't end up falling for a Basketball idiot like him.' Momoi smiled to herself as she watched her friend leave the place.

The rain was still pouring hard.

Aomine tried to call his girlfriend many times but there was no answer.

He ran as fast as he could. His heart was beating fast.He couldn't believe himself. Forgetting things aren't new to him but this time it's different. He forgot his girlfriend's birthday and he was four hours late for their date.

Is she still there?

Well, knowing her.

Wait, it couldn't be....

No, that's just ridiculous.

When he reached the place, he saw her standing alone. He hurried to reach her. She was soaking wet from the rain yet she still waited.

"What are you doing, idiot!?" Aomine yelled at her but she just smiled.

“You came," she said weakly.

He grabbed her shoulders and he felt her shaking.

"God damn it!"

He was angry at her for being such an idiot.

He was angry at himself too for being such a stupid boyfriend. He rarely took his time to be with her because of basketball. He was feeling guilty even though she's the one who confessed and even though she knew it was going to be like this, she still liked him. Is she really going this far for him?

She woke up with a start. She scanned the room, she realized that it wasn't hers. She felt that there was something holding her hands. It was Aomine's. His head was buried into her sheets. He was sleeping soundly. She smiled to herself. She didn't expect him to came. But deep in her heart she believed in him.

She got out of bed without waking him up. She realized that her clothes wasn't the same as yesterday.

She blushed.

Could it be?

"Oi, don't go imagining weird thoughts would you? I called Satsuki last night to change your clothes" Aomine spoke as if he read her mind.

"Oh. S-sorry"

Aomine got up.

"N-no. I'm the one who's sorry. I forgot we have a date on your birthday and on top of that, I left you out in the cold" Aomine shyly scratched the back of his head.

"It's okay." She smiled at him and he wanted to get angry. Is she a masochist? Just how long would she endure all of these?

"You know, I don't get why you still like me. I mean, I rarely spend time with you. I tend to forget our dates. Heck, I even forgot your birthday" There was a sarcastic smile on his face.

"I-"

"I only agreed to date you because I had nothing to do." Aomine interrupted, there was a superiority in his voice.

He didn't know where these words are coming from. He was surprised by his own words.

That was it. He finally pulled the trigger.

"I-Is that so?" Her voice was shaking.

"W-well. I guess it was unfortunate."

"I-I'll just return Momoi's clothes to her tomorrow. U-uhmm Thanks for hanging out with me until now." She forced a smile and turned her back, her footsteps leading to the door.

"W-wait. I'm not finished yet." He grabbed her wrist to stop her from leaving.

Aomine was caught off guard when she saw the tears falling from her eyes and he began, "I may not show it but I have come to like you too."

As he was saying these, his mind flashed those sudden smiles of her whenever they hang out. As rare as it can be.
