A wonderful New Year to each and everyone! Greetings from the team and I! Here's brave-little-fantasy for yet another senseless rant for this month's issue!
Starting off with how perfect people can get.
Have you ever met someone who seems to be perfect? Always right (like Akashi, maybe)? Never commits mistakes? And has every talent you could ever imagine?
Well, I've met one, not only once. And I assume everyone has? Hmm~? Of course you do! It's the Mary Sues we always encounter in some fan fictions we've read.
Mary Sues are characters which are overly perfect, so perfect that they don't commit mistakes and act like a saint from the heavens. Or to simply put, their Gods who can do anything without making a tiny mistake from their lives.
As far as I can remember, nobody's perfect (except for the hot bishies of KnB but, you get my point). Now, what I'm annoyed at is how perfect these characters are that they somehow outshine the main characters of the anime, and sometimes making them as as side characters. They can even solve easy problems which the characters from the anime can actually solve on their own.
Flaws are what make people, if I recall. Without them, we would just be annoying bunch of perfect people who can best the one who created us. Everyone of us has a flaw. Seeing just how some OCs are too perfect doesn't seem real at all, and is hard to believe no matter what the circumstances. It is too impossible for someone to be so flawless.
A few good traits can help, and some bad and neutral traits to balance out your character. But when all of the good values found in people and in the dictionary has been used for a character? Then, no thanks. I'm sick with how perfect they can get.
