• From rooftop to rooftop, Nightwing watched down on the sidewalks. He was getting closer to the address y/n had given him.
For a stranger, she had created a special spot in his mind that was rarely filled. He couldn't help it, y/n was different, unlike anyone he'd encountered before.
He looked down and saw her, with her boyfriend as they stood outside an apartment building. They both seemed visibly upset, she kept her arms crossed over her while her boyfriend was prying at her, shoving her a bit roughly.
"Jack, stop!" She wined, trying to get away but he wouldn't stop trying to grab her. Nightwing narrowed his eyes, waiting for the right moment to swoop down.
"Y/n please, I swear, she didn't mean anything to me!" He grabbed her wrist abruptly, pulling her close. "If you leave, I won't let you back into my apartment." He went on but y/n didn't want to stay.
"Jack, you smell like alcohol, let me go." She ordered but Jack's impaired state only made him more angry. He grabbed her by the shoulders and began to shake her.
"Shut up, you bitch! Don't tell me what to do!" He slapped her across the face— Nightwing's cue to jump down and step in.
"Hey buddy!" He said pushing Jack off y/n. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size." Dick swung a punch and hit Jack square in the jaw.
Jack stumbled back, holding his face as he tried to fight back, evidently loosing his balance. Nightwing then proceeded to grab his shoulders, knocking out y/n's boyfriend with his own head.
Now, Jack lay on the ground and Nightwing slyly turned to y/n.
"We should stop meeting like this." He laughed but she kept a cold expression.
"Doesn't Batwing belong in Gotham?" She snapped and Nightwing winced. He didn't understand how y/n was so pleasant around Dick but so cruel to Nightwing.
"First of all, it's Nightwing. Batwing is someone else." He crossed his arms over his chest as she was starting to get on his nerves. "Secondly, you should start being a little more grateful that I'm not in Gotham."
Y/n looked to the side, not saying anything. Nightwing regret snapping as she was already upset.
"Is that your boyfriend?" He asked, changing the subject. She bit her lip, not responding right away.
"Ex-boyfriend. I just broke up with him." She stated, rubbing her forehead. Nightwing loosened his stance. "I don't have anywhere to stay." She mentioned, beginning to panic.
Nightwing didn't know what to tell her, he couldn't up front tell her to call Dick Grayson. She scratched the back of her head, waiting.
Y/n's head perked up, her expression lightening, "there is someone I could stay with, actually."
Nightwing nodded, figuring that it was time to leave, he managed to get his way back to the roof tops.
He couldn't help but take one last peek at y/n to see her holding a napkin, dialling a number into her phone.
Dick went along, trying to get out of ear shot. He waited for his cell phone to ring and when it did, he didn't hesitate in picking it up.
"Hello?" He asked, already knowing it was y/n. He heard a sigh on the other end.
"Hey, um, it's y/n." She took another deep breath. "Me and my boyfriend broke up and he kinda kicked me out of our apartment."
Dick nodded, even though he knew she couldn't see him.
"Are you okay? He didn't hurt you did he?" He heard her mumbled no, "well if you need somewhere to stay, I have a spare room in my loft." He grinned from ear to ear as he offered her a roof over her head.
