"I didn't
know you were awake." Y/n admitted as Dick leaned against the counter, holding a mug firmly in his grip. He nodded.

"I couldn't sleep." He paused and she heard the sound of a kettle. "I'm making some tea, do you want some?"

She took to deep breath, listening to the raindrops splashing against the windows.

"It's a bit early, but sure." She shrugged, sitting down and the small kitchen table. Dick took out another mug from the cupboard, along with another tea bag.

It was relaxing watching him pour the boiling water into the mugs. Y/n liked how he could do anything and just sooth her nerves.

"It's funny." He mentioned, sitting down, placing her tea in front of her, " we barely know anything about each other."

Y/n hummed as she took a sip, trying not to burn her tongue.

"That's true but I guess there's not much to know about me." She added but Dick contradicted her statements.

"Well you told me you were new to Blüdhaven, where were you living before?" He said between blowing over his mug.

Their legs intertwined underneath the table as y/n sighed.

"I was in Central City for school." She blinked, looking into Dick's eyes. "But it wasn't for me."

There was a moment of silence, they didn't have to say anything—their eyes told stories.

"You know it's nice having another person around." He changed the conversation and she nodded.

"It's nice to be around nice people." She smiled, drinking her tea. Dick lifted his mug and held it in the air,

"cheers to that!" He laughed and y/n brought her mug up as well, clinking their drinks.

While they drank, both of them experienced something that wasn't there before and as y/n smiled sweetly, Dick didn't understand what was happening.

"Don't get weirded out by this but I feel like we've known each other longer than we have." Dick told her and she knew he was probably referring to their interactions when he was Nightwing.

Y/n paused, it was true, she knew him much longer than he thought but she couldn't say anything, she only nodded along.

"What about you, you haven't been living your whole life here, have you?" She asked. Dick shook his head, chucking.

"No, no. I lived in Gotham most of my life— well I was in the circus growing up." His smile slowly faded away because with all the fond memories he had of the circus he also had the tragic deaths of his parents.

"I have a friend in Gotham." She pointed out, "I'm actually going to see her tomorrow." Dick raised an eyebrow, beckoning her to elaborate.

"She owes me a favour. I want to see if she'll let me stay with her, so you know, I can get out of your hair." And although the favour part was true, it wasn't an apartment she was going for.

Dick continued to shake his head, putting his hand over hers, looking feeling into her eyes.

"No, you should stay. Honestly, I enjoy having people over." He tried to argue but y/n only pulled her hand from under his.

"Like you said. We barely know each other." She gazed away from him as they sat in another long silence.

Slowly they started getting up to place their mugs in the sink and as they were standing there, y/n lifted her eyes to stare at Dick Grayson.

Their forearms brushed against each other as he noticed her staring. He couldn't help put just take all of her in as he looked down at her.

She let go of a heavy sigh, not breaking eye contact. She leaned into him, their breathing became shaky.

They became closer and closer until they both stopped. Y/n knew it would be naive to give into instincts.

She stepped away, scratching her head. "I don't think I can go back to bed." She mentioned and Dick nodded, offering to watch television.

So that's what the pair did, they sat in the couch together as y/n listen to Dick go on about childhood stories and what it was like to live with Bruce Wayne.
