Daichi shivered lightly as he felt a gentle sensation run down his skin. He opened his eyes to find Sugawara caressing him.
Suga was humming softly, brushing his hand through Daichi's hair. He was unaware that his friend had just awakened.
Daichi found it endearing, he would have smiled if it weren't for his chapped lips which stung at the slightest movement. He felt at peace, he was finally with Suga again.
The pleasant moment was short lived however, as Daichi felt pain shoot up his left side.
He let out an agonized groan, his body felt like it was on fire.
"Daichi??" Sugawara looked at the brunette in concern, though the tiniest bit of relief was present in his voice. Despite the circumstance, he was glad that Daichi was finally awake.
"M-My arm" croaked Daichi. He peered at his amputation and immediately felt nauseated.
Daichi's wound was a mustard yellow and heavily bruised. His stump was severely swollen. It looked like it would burst.
"Here... take this" said Suga, handing Daichi two pills and a bottle of water. "It's the tylenol from Iwaizumi's bag, it'll help with the pain."
Daichi took the medication gratefully, but felt his heart sink at a realization.
"Suga, we couldn't get far.. I couldn't get the medicine for your heart!"
Daichi's head began to throb, a headache from stress and dehydration plaguing him. He had been so desperate to leave the athletics store to find medicine for Suga's disease, yet all he had managed to obtain was tylenol and aspirin.
Sugawara smiled and stroked his finger along Daichi's cheek.
The touch gave him warmth. It was as if all his anxiety was being dissolved, making him feel light and elated. It was reassuring.
"The aspirin will work for now, it's a blood thinner so it'll reduce my blood from clotting."
Daichi looked at Suga in confusion, earning a small chuckle in response.
"It means I won't be getting a heart attack any time soon, so don't worry Daichi. I'm going to be okay."
Daichi sighed in relief and allowed himself to relax. He was in pain and saddened that he had lost his limb, but Suga was going to live, and that was all that mattered.
"Daichi! You're finally awake!"
A teary eyed Asahi launched himself at Daichi, pulling him into a tight embrace.
"Hey Asahi" responded Daichi weakly, he felt like his chest was being compressed. Asahi pulled away, allowing him to breath.
Wait... finally awake?
How long had he been unconscious?
"Hold on.. how long have I been asleep for and how did you guys even find me?? And what about Yamaguchi and Iwaizumi, where are they?? Are they okay??"
The questions spilled out of Daichi frantically. He had been so preoccupied with Suga that he had forgotten about the situation he had previously been in. The last thing he remembered before waking up was Iwaizumi amputating his arm.
"Yamaguchi and Iwaizumi are okay, they're here too. They're just sleeping still" replied Sugawara, pointing to the right.
Daichi turned and saw Yamaguchi laying on the floor. Hinata and Noya were sitting beside him with water and food on hand. Tsukishima was standing against the wall, eyeing the freckled boy warily, as if he were a ghost.
