VANESSAS POV
I stand there in shock, not believing what is right before my eyes.
despite the fact that I'm wearing a short dress, I sprint across the street and wrap my arms around my brother's torso.
"hey Johnny." I sigh.
"hey ness." he says.
"what're you doing here?" I ask.
"let's talk over dinner." he says, wrapping his arm around my shoulder as we walk into the restaurant.
"so what am I doing here." he says.
"mom told me that you'd be home for a few weeks off of that tour thing, so I thought we could have a little family reunion."
"now why are you here?" he asks.
"well Bri and one of the boys broke up first off. and she didn't want to have to be around him so she decided to come home and so did I." I shrug.
he nods.
"aww but little Johnny came home from college because of me." I say in the five year old voice, pinching his cheeks.
"stop it." he whines, swatting my hands away.

we finally get our food after waiting for a while and eat with a few childhood memories coming back.
"remember when you tried to tell that guy that you liked him!" John says, laughing so the whole restaurant could hear.
"don't remind me!" I laugh, causing my cheeks to heat up.
"you- you walked up to him a puked on his pants!" he yells, making all eyes on us and taking a swig of his beer.
"shut up!" I say as i laugh like crazy.
he glances at his watch on his wrist as his eyes go wide.
"well we better head out. mom's probably worried." he says, throwing a few dollar bills on our table as we stand up and head out the door.
"thanks for doing this Johnny. it's been a while since we've had brother sister bonding." I say reaching on my tip toes to hug him.
"and may i say I've missed it." he says.
I see the flash of a camera in the corner of my eye causing me to immediately break apart from the hug.
"oh my god." I whisper.
"who are they?" John asks me, completely clueless.
"paparazzi." I say.
"well I've gotta go. love you bye." I say before kissing his cheek and sprinting to my car.
I pull the handle of my car door.
locked.
I quickly pull my keys out of my clutch and unlock the door, as I buckle my seatbelt and try to pull out as bodies with flashing cameras surround my car.
I beep my horn a few times, which causes them to move and sped my way home.
I slam the door behind me and slide down the Fran as I let out a sigh of relief as black vans surround the front of my house.
"vanessa! honey I was worried!" my mom says as she runs up to me.
"oh you know Johnny. hasn't always been the best on time." I say as I stand up from the ground.
"it's not that." she says in a serious tone, grabbing my hand and dragging me into the kitchen.
she clicks the power button on the remote as the screen turns on to the gossip news channel that my mom always thought was so cool.
the hostess flashes a fake smile as a picture of me kissing john's cheek pops up on the screen beside her.
"tonight at 11, five seconds of summer's opening act on their worldwide tour, vanessa pruitt, has come home to Naples, Florida while the tour is off and the boys record for a few weeks. as you see in this photo, she went on a date with a mystery man earlier tonight. but as everyone knows, she's currently in a relationship with luke hemmings of five seconds of summer. I wonder what he'll think of this mystery man with vanessa. but hey, knowing their fans, anything can happen. the full story coming up next." she says to the camera.
I run my hands through my hair in frustration.
"he's my brother!" I tell at the television as my mom wraps her arms around me.
"why don't you call luke and explain everything?" she suggests.
I wipe my eyes as tears fall and nod in agreement.
I grab my phone out of my clutch and dial Luke's number.
he answers after a few rings.
"hi my princess." he says.
"luke I have something to tell you."
