When we were children,
we built castles in the golden
sand.
Under the dreamy blue sky,
with cotton candy clouds.
Sweets and sugar made
us ecstatic and hyperactive.
We danced around in circles
like weightless birds, having
the time of our lives.
I still recall the nursery rhymes
we hummed along to in the
playground.
We fell in love with anything
we found.
The nights, oh how we dreaded them..
so we asked the elders to leave the night light on.
The days we spent being getting
into trouble and make a racket.
The gold, star stickers our teachers
had given, for our little achievements.
During winter time, we rushed
outside and built snow men
and snow angels.
I remember scribbling, drawing
and painting canvases a hue of
rainbow colours.
The simpler times we had.
I find it kind of strange how
time has moved on.
Poof
It goes.
