Chapter 7

Towards the end of April I had a show in New York and then another one back in LA. The boys were also very busy and we couldn't hang out until after their song release in May. They were busy shooting the video for that and I was busy in the studio. Towards the end of May I got a call from their photographer, Caspary.

He asked me if I wanted to go do a shoot with him and guys at the beach. Of course I said yes so we chose a time, place and vibe.

It was a pretty sunny day but also fairly windy. I got to the beach about 10 minutes early so I sat down, far away from the water, and waited.

I look over to my left and see some people surfing. The same place I was, almost a year ago. I close my eyes and imagine running towards the ocean, next to my best friend Ally, just like we always did.

I can almost hear her tell me that she could never surf without her surfing buddy.

I open my eyes and stand up, staring at those surfers in the water. Oh how much things have changed in just a year. I feel my heart ache and there's a roaring sound in my ears.

I shut my eyes and take in a deep breath. hold for four, breathe, hold for four, breathe. Once I feel my heart rate back to normal I turn around to go find the place we're supposed to meet up.

I walk closer to the dock area and I spot them. They seem to spot me too because they wave as I walk towards them.

Once I reach them, we all say hi and give each other hugs until Caspary speaks up.

"Okay we here's the game plan. We can all take pictures on the beach and around the dock over there and then when the suns setting we can go down to the water and take some photos there" he said.

"Wait like go in the water?" I ask nervously.

"Well not too deep, maybe just up to your knees or even just your ankles will be okay"

Okay well this is gonna be a problem but we can figure that out later.

We start taking photos Individually along the beach. Whoever's not in the shot just stands to the side and plays with the sand.

After an hour of taking photos individually we decide to take some group photos. Caspary sorts us into some groups with semi matching outfits and then he adds people in. After many many photos we head over to the end of the beach where it's less crowded with people.

There are two big rocks sticking out of the sand with some space in between so we take some photos there too.

Im sitting in the sand with zach and jack as Daniels getting his photos taken. I was lying down next to Zach with my hand shielding my eyes from the sun. I can feel Zach sprinkling some sand on my arm but I didn't mind.

"ELLIE" I hear Caspary call out.

I stand up and walk over to him and Daniel.

"Hi" I say.

"so I have a vision" he says.

"Okaaaaaay"

"And it's a little uncomfortable to execute this vision that I have" Caspary says slowly.

"Uncomfortable how?" Daniel asks.

"Well if you guys are up for it, we can try it out? You guys can just always back out if you want to" he says, still being vague.

"I mean sure...I can do whatever I guess" I say.

"Yep me too" Daniel Says.

"Okay great, Daniel, I need you to sit on the sand with your legs straight out and lean back on your hands" Caspary says.
