CHAPTER 6: Math Genius

I started the week right. I feel so energetic and went to school as if there was no evidence of last week's illness.

Today is Tuesday, after our Math class....

Lance, did you understand the lesson earlier, can I ask a favor from you, I promised to buy you food. I tried to bribe him.

As much as I want the food but my comprehension with math is way worse than you, then he smiled apologetically.

I called Aeon's attention instead since I'm already desperate.

Ae, is it okay if you explain to us, today's math lessons?

Celine, I believe that you are smarter that you think. I didn't insist more. I know we started to acknowledge each other's presence but it doesn't mean, I'll be taking advantage of his kindness.

Okay thank you. Lance witness everything so he whispers something on my ear.

"Don't worry, I have a better idea. Trust me on this one!"

Then we giggled together, while Aeon seemed to be not happy, but we just ignored him.

Right after class, we group ourselves. Groups 1 and 2 held the practice at my place while Group 3, was with Lance. The music arrangement was also distributed to each group.

The next day...

I have here the results of today's quiz. I'm happy to announce that three among you got the perfect score. One was expected, however the other two, are seatmates, though they have different solutions, but both of their answers are correct.

Aeon. Celine and Lance. Congratulations. Keep it up.

See, I told you! Lance gave me a high five, happiness is clearly evident on his face.

Hey Ae, are you okay? Chris, his seatmate, asked. Aeons mood seemed to be worsened, despite his test results.

I'm fine Chris, his face showed he's not.

I overheard their conversation, I feel sorry for him, I'm not so sure if he's mad because we shared his spotlight, it's just that I felt gratified to Lance that time, that's why I decided to keep my distance from him.

I was having lunch with Lance when...

It's so lonely here, care if we join you two? A lively Matt, asked. He's together with Chris, Bern and Aeon.

Are we disturbing the two of you? he starts to tease us. While he sits comfortable beside Lance, Aeon beside me, Chris is beside Aeon while Bern beside Matt. Thankfully the table's capacity can accommodate the six of us.

Don't tell me...the two of you? OMG! Matt exaggeratedly express his excitement, while he looks down on us, thinking differently.

Lance just smiled at him and continued to chew his food.

No reactions from me either. Think any way you want. I don't care.

We'll, you two will be our lunch buddies from now on. Chris proclaimed.

Okay cool. The more the merrier. Lance agreed.

By the way, someone's not in the mood today. Matt started, while everyone's eating seriously.

Is there any problem Ae? Chris, the sincerest among them, inquired.

Oh common, don't tell us another girl approach you and confess her love to you, Matt bullies him.

Aeon, pretended not to hear any of them.

He's grades are fine, so what else aside from the girls that are always after Aeon? Right guys? Matt continued.

Don't mind them Ae, don't let Matt copy your homework from now on, he's just jealous. Bern defended.

Oh, by the way Celine, Lance, how did you get your perfect scores in Math? Chris asked.

I approached Mr. Boyd to help me with yesterday lessons, then I shared it with Celine. Lance proudly announced.

Next time, I'll be the one to teach you. Aeon spoke softly but cold.

Thanks Aeon, I know I owe you a lot, but no need.

I was just joking yesterday; you should insist more, he's eyes piercing on me.

Is that the only reason why your acting strange since yesterday! Chris pry.

He continued to be indifferent. Does it mean I'm the one to blame for his strange attitude, C'mon I know he's great but to be affected by a nobody's girl like me, is too much impossible. I did not mind their teasing anymore, and just continue to eat my food.

After today's class, we proceed with our usual practice, same place, and same group. Everyone's already exhausted, and tomorrow will be our remaining and final practice before the competition on Friday.

Aeon decided to let everyone leave first.

Hey Celine, exams will be two weeks from now, would you like to review with me?

Is it fine with you? How about your friends? I asked shyly.

Then how about Lance, don't you have plans?

He hasn't asked me yet, so I guess its fine.

Good, then we're all set. All your weekends will be reserve for me. I don't want to hear you complaining about math again.

Yes, because you seem to be slow in understanding everything around you.
