CHAPTER 43

"It's great to have you back Jaebumie, we'll be right back. We'll check the food in the kitchen.", they both left as they held hands together.

"Are you surprised Ruby?", Jaebum moved his hand from his back and a bouquet of hyacinths came to view.

Ruby is his nickname that he gave me eversince we were kids. I was addicted to rubbies when I was little and he always teased me about it. In New Zealand we were inseparable, he was always there beside me whenever I needed him.

I started having feelings for him during middle school and so does he, we dated but then broke up because we realized we were too young and also because he's leaving to the states. He promised me that he will comeback and make me the happiest girl in the world.

It took me a long time to move on from him since he was my bestfriend and ex-boyfriend, I still cared for him even if we never contacted each other eversince. The hope that I'll meet him soon slowly faded as years passed by, when I finally moved on he's back.

He's really back in front of me..

He came near me and placed bouquet on the table but he stopped as he saw Taehyung's hand on my waist.

"Is he your cousin Jen? You don't have to worry, I'll take care of your cousin well--"

"I am not her cousin.", Taehyung spoke in a deep voice with a fake smile on his face.

"I'm Kim Taehyung, Jennie's future boyfriend.", he raised his hand and smiled at him.

But it's not his boxy smile that I loved..

It's different.

"Well, that doesn't change anything Taehyung-ssi. It's good to know you but Ruby and I will have a little chitchat.", Jaebum said as he gently pulled me away from Taehyung.

"Dinner is ready children, let us all eat well. ", eomma announced as she sat on her seat across appa.

I sat on the chair and Taehyung was about to seat beside me, Jaebum quickly took the seat puting his face in his palm as he looked at me.

I smiled at him and secretly glanced at Taehyung who was burning holes behind Jaebum's head.

"I'll just take the seat across.", Taehyung said as he walked to the other side.

"Ruby-ah, how were you?", Jaebum asked taking my attention.

"I'm ok Jae, how was life in the States?"

"Boring if you asked me, you weren't there. How I wished we never broke up Ruby...", he softly said as he held my hand that's placed on my table.

I flinched a little but tried not to be obvious since it was rude if I do.

"Past is past Jae, the future is ahead of us. Let's enjoy the present now shall we?", he nodded his head but didn't remove his hand on mine.

It was rather uncomfortable since Taehyung is across. I can see the sadness in his eyes and I'm sure he's over thinking that he's not enough. I want him to know that I only have eyes on him.

I pulled my hand back and shook my head avoiding his gaze, "The food's here."

Dinner was quiet as my parents were eating silently even those two. I played my meatball but still ate it anyway.

I pushed my plate away once I was finished and intersected my hands.

"Is dinner good?", I asked everyone.

"Good"

"The best as usual."

"It's ok.."

"Always the best as expected from the Kim's chef."

My ears perked up at Taehyung's voice. I was about to ask him if he's ok but..

"Ruby, I have great news for you.", he smiled as he held both of my hands, my eyes widen at shock.

He was never touchy before..

He used to be someone who asked permission before touching me even if it's just my hands but he really changed. I don't know him anymore.

"I'm staying here with you! Isn't that amazing?"

"I guess it is--"

"And I'll go to your school starting tomorrow. It will be fun, we'll be back on how we used to be.", he smiled widely as I was uncomfortable as fuck.

"I should get going, hyung might be waiting for me. Thank you for the dinner Mr. and Mrs. Kim, Jaebum and Jennie, it was delicious thank you for having me.", he stood up from his chair and bowed.

"Take care Taehyung, come visit us soon.", he showed a tight lipped-smiled and our eyes made contact but he moved his gaze away. My heart cracked once he avoided my gaze, he waved goodbye to everyone.

Then he left..

Just like that but worst of all,

he called me Jennie..

He isn't jealous, right?

Long story short I wasn't satisfied with the previous chapter so I've decided to post another one. Things are starting to stir up and I hope that they'll be ok soon..
