Alexandria: The Dream

I was swimming in a burning violet lake. The water was clear, but I couldn't see 5 feet ahead of me. My goal was to reach to the other side of the lake, where a golden light was shooting through the amethyst waters, but my body was so tired. Finally, I gave up to the harsh currents and let my body sink.

The water swirled around my neck, choking me, filling my nostrils ears, and like hands pulling on a pulley, forced my body to sink. I knew I should've screamed, but it was a lost cause. Why waste your breath when you know nobody is going to help you?

As I was being dragged down by the powerful fists of water, featureless faces started to appear. Their wailing voices were even more suffocating than the water.

"You'll never be good enough," one groaned in my ears.

"As if you could ever be pretty," another scoffed.

"Just give it up," a face encouraged.

"No, no, no, no," I tried to resist but at every refusal to comply, the liquid chokehold squeezed tighter. My breath was running out. I was practically dead. So this is how it ends. I was ready to stop the suffering. I felt my body go slack and-
