"You have got to be kidding me." I sighed.
"Are you that disappointed to see me?"
All I could do was glare at Harper as she smiled back at me. She had lied to me and she clearly wasn't even sorry.
"Yea, in fact, I never wanna see you again." I pushed past the guys as I made my way to the door. Kith stepped in the way on the door handle, preventing me from leaving.
"You're already here, you might as well tell me what you came for." Harper sat on the edge of the desk, her red curls hanging loosely in her face, her bright blue eyes peeking through her hair as she watched me.
"Or at least, how exactly you managed to find this place." She continued.
"Maya..." Adrian put a hand on my shoulder, though even he didn't know what to say to me. I breathed out unevenly and looked at Harper through the corner of my eye, before finally turning to face her.
"I followed one of your people here." I replied, spinning around to face her. Her eyes widened with surprise.
"Who did you follow exactly? I'll have to have a word with them later."
"I want my friends to come home with me." I practically growled at her, ignoring her questions. All this time I had believed her when she had said she didn't know where the guys were. I knew she was connected with the same people they were. I should've known she was lying. I never expected to find her here, acting as their leader. If she knew that I knew all this time, why did she lie?
"No can do girly, they've got work to do." She signed with a smile.
"They've been working. They deserve a break from you if you ask me." I replied.
"Awh, do you miss going to school with your boyfriend?" Harper fake pouted and hopped off the desk, Walking up to us.
"Harper, drop the act." Adrian said sternly. Harper glared at him for a few seconds, before turning back to me.
"Alright, alright. Look, in all seriousness Maya... I'm sorry I had to lie to you. I know I should've been honest about, well, all of this."
"Yea, you should've."
"But you know I couldn't." She countered.
"Whatever, it's not like I can trust you much now. I'm only here for Adrian, Noah and Jackson."
"I can't let you take them home. I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too, cause they don't have to listen to you. They've been here long enough."
Harper sighed sharply, looking away from me. My heart pounded with anger in my chest. Not only did I go through all this trouble to find the guys when Harper could've just let me know they're safe, now I had to convince her to let them leave her 'service'. What the hell.
"Is there anyone else I can speak to about this, Kith?" I spun around to face Kith, my patience running thin. Kith was clearly caught by surprise, because his usual calm and leading composure was replaced with shifty eyes and stammering.
"Well, uh, that would be up to miss Harper, of course. Yes, she should decide wether your friends would be permitted to leave. She decides these things, yes." His eyes searched my face for agreement with him. I gave him a bored look.
"You just said the exact same thing, like, three times in a row." I replied quietly.
There is absolutely no way Harper was the head of this place. She's just a teenager, no one could trust her with running this place all on her own. I mean, even the biggest drug lords in movies have someone they have to answer to and are deathly afraid of. Maybe the role is shared with Kith, seeing as he was the one commanding the main floor and is down here now.
