The Party

The basement was fairly huge, though still filled nearly to the brim with moving bodies. I held onto Kim's hand as we flowed through the sea of people, making our way to the kitchen area. It seemed to the the only place that had a few air pockets free of people. It also happened to be where the alcohol was. A few guys were playing cup pong in the corner table, with a few girls scattered around the table watching the game go down. Both of us grabbed a cup, filled them with a cooler and a few shots and decided to dance around for a while before joining the cup pong table for the next game.

While we waited for the next game to start, we finally got around to talking about what Payton had told us before dinner.

"What do you think we should do? There are too many factories around the edge of the city for us to find it within just a few days, let alone a few weeks." Kim said nervously, sipping from her solo cup.

"I'm not too sure myself. It would've helped if we knew what direction they drove in but we have no way of finding that out without running Noah's plate. And we definitely can't do that because we'd have to get the cops involved." I stared at my reflection in the dark liquid of my cup. God, please give us a second clue. I looked up after some time of thinking.

"Let's go upstairs for a bit, this game isn't gonna finish anytime soon." I announced, pulling Kim by the elbow. We had nearly made our way back to the exit, when we were intercepted by none other than Sophia Kramer. I sighed deeply and prepared for the incoming argument of 'who invited you here' or something of the sort. I was dead wrong.

"Hey girlies! How are you enjoying the party?" She exclaimed excitedly as she danced around us. Kim and I exchanged a quick look. We were getting lots of surprises today.

"It's... going good! Fun so far, how's your night?" I answered, spinning around as I tried to follow her.

"It is going amazingly! Thank you for asking!" She gave me a tight hug before continuing to dace around us. I was floored. She must have been a few shots in by this point in the night. She stopped dancing, flipping the hair out of her face as she panted.

"Listen y'all, I know I haven't been so nice to you for the last few years. I'm also a little tipsy at the moment. But-" She put one hand on mine and Kim's shoulder.

"-I'm really sorry about how I've been treating you. You two are actually really chill and Tania was like, jealous of you or something, I don't know, you feel me? I don't even know why I've been mean to you."

"Well, thank you?" Kim answered.

"No problem Kim! By the way, I love both your outfits." She giggled and let go of our shoulders.

"Sophia, what are you doing talking to them?" A voice behind us sounded over the blaring music. I think we all know who was standing behind us.

"Tania! I was just telling them how cool they are and how we should all just be friends and stop fighting!"

Tania's face held an expression of shock and disgust as she watched her friend continue dancing around us. A few of her barbies and their guys stood behind Tania as if they were her bodyguards. The newest addition seemed to be the guy she was holding onto like her life depended on it. Not that she was interested, she just wanted to show everyone she could 'get whoever she wanted, whenever she wanted'. Just another puppy to follow her around.

"It's clear that Sophia is off her shit and isn't thinking straight, you'll have to forgive her for thinking you two seemed cool. It's honestly just the alcohol." She looked us up and down and fixed her hair.

"Sophia let's go, you're too fucked up and you're talking to these losers. We don't talk to losers, remember?" This was the first time Kim and I would defend Sophia from Tania. Tania tried pulling Sophia away, and I instinctively grabbed her wrist.
