August's P.O.V

I was sleeping in my house nd phone kept ringing, but ignored it because I was in a good sleep ......

*later that day*

I woke up nd the first thing I did was get my phone, I laid on my stomach squinting at the bright light from my phone...I had about 30 miss calls, I called my cousin because that was the number that kept showing up

Me:*raspy* was good

Mycusin: *crying*

Me:*tryin ta get up* what happened cuz

MC: *crying* where you at mane

Me: home nigga why you cryin

MC: *sniffling* come down to da hospital mane

Me: can you tell me what da fuck happen

MC: dey got Mel yo

I hurried up throwin on my shit while I stayed on the phone

I said tryin to balance my self cuz I'm just waking up....... I ran out to my car hurrin up driving to da hospital I couldn't register it properly......what da hell dey ment, he got shot, my heart started racin...... I pulled up to the hospital runnin in nd goin to da desk clerk

Clerk: how may I help you

Me: I'm here, fo Melvin la'branch

She typed in the computer nd tucked in her lip

Clerk: third floor 325...... Um(GCO)

I rushed up for the elevator nd dat shit took fo eva so I ran up da stairs........I turned the hallway nd saw everyone outside cryin my heart started beating faster as I walked up to my sobbing family members.....my cusin walked up to me while I walked towards my momma

MC:*stopps me*

Me: why everybody cryin

MC: he ain't make it

Me:*scrunch up my eyebrows* what? Mane move.......

I felt my heart stop fo a second......what da fuck he Juss said? My eyes got wide as I tried to push him off me.......my momma came nd held me like a baby this ain't real is it? I -I -I jus saw him earlier I wanted to cry but I ain't want nobody ta see me

Before I knew it, I was shakin nd cryin in my mommas chest.....I was cryin fo so long, cuz I couldn't believe dis was happenin...every time I stopped cryin I'd think bout how I ain't gone be able to talk to my brotha no mo.......so I'd start cryin again.....I wanna find out who did dis....what happened.....why him? I was mad, sad, hurt, every thing all at once....After hours of sittin dere I finally got up, there ain't no way he really gone,I wiped my eyes walkin to the room ........my momma told me not ta go, but I gotta cuz I ont believe dis, my heart started racin real fast I got up to da window nd there he was, Layin on bed wif a sheet ova his head.......more tears rushed down my face Lookin at da monitor wif da straight line......I went to da door nd tried to open it, I looked at the tag, cuz what if dey got the wrong person, I was stuggling ta open the door den the doctors nd my family came nd tried ta stop me

Me:*crying nd mad* get da fuck off me......*cryin harder* my brotha in there

They pulled me off the door, after I tried ta get dem ta let me in I pushed away from dem walkin towards the stairs as my momma nd every body else called for me....I left cryin to my car.....once I got in I just sat in there cryin even more on da wheel, which eventually turned into my hittin it repeatedly........I started the ignition nd wiped my nose pullin away........I drove on the highway past the speed limit.....nd it was rainin

Me:*sobbin* why him.......why my brotha

I drove a little faster thinking......coulda took me instead......my brotha ain't do shit to deserve his life taken away like dat.....I ont wanna suffer, waking up knowing dat he really gone....I Juss wanna be wif my brotha right na, nd maybe dats what it is I need ta be up dere wif him.....without actually thinkin hard enough I swerved the car
