CHAPTER 2:

-(1 year later)
"Sweetie, can you take over the cash register?" My father tapped my shoulder, nudging me to go to the cash register.
My mom was in the back doing paper work for our small convenience store. She had stacks of papers to go through since it was tax season. It was my parents first year dealing with their own business so it was really hard for them.
I leaned against the table awaiting the next costumer.
My father had went to my mother and helped her organize a few things. Their relationship really progressed since my accident causing them to be really close.
My father had even left his new wife for my mom. He moved in with us after a few days I came back from the hospital. Things had been really hard on me since then.
I hadn't been able to go back to the school due to the trauma of the school shooting. Knowing that all my friends were dead brought me into panic attacks.
My parents this year forced me to join my grandfathers academy school. It was a school for elites, not something I was looking forward too. I didn't want to upset my parents so I went ahead and accepted it.
"Hello?" A young man in a uniform waved his hand in front of my face.
I snapped out of my thoughts. "Sorry! How may I help you?"
"I was looking for canned beans?"
"Aisle 3." I picked up my pace and followed right behind him to make sure he finds the products. After all, I work to provide excellent costumer service.
There was something about his school uniform that looked familiar to me. I watched him pick out the can he liked. He looked over at me with a smile when he found success in finding his can.
I was about to head to the counter when the symbol on his uniform caught my attention. He went to Evergreen Academy. I was surprised a student from that school would come to my grocery store. It was odd. Not to mention, the drive was over 20 minutes in the middle of the wilderness.
"Are you from Evergreen?" I asked while walking behind the counter to the cash register. I started scanning his items.
"Yeah, I came back from orientating first years." He started laughing.
"That must've been fun." I looked up at his eyes. There was a look of curiosity which I was used too.
"Do you go to a school near here?" He spun his finger in the air in a circle.
"I'm transferring this September to senior year at your academy. Tell me if I'm making a mistake." I smiled. My eyes lingered on him for a few seconds, he was really handsome. My eyes lifted off of him when his receipt printed out.
"You aren't. Just as long as your able to stay away from any attention." He picked up his bag from me, his fingers grazed against mine. Butterfly's started to form in my tummy.
He left, but his touch still felt hot against my skin.
"Eyes on the road!" My mother yelled at me.
"It wasn't my fault!"
"Oh really? Slow down! You almost ran through the red light." My mother sighed. "I don't know how long I can keep teaching you how to drive. Park up there."
I arrived to my new school to pick up my uniform. It was uniform day.
"Mom, I really don't have to go here. It's way too expensive and it's just not my taste."
"Don't be silly!" My mother got out of the car and started to go on without me.
"Wait! Wait." I hurried after her. Turning off the engine and locking the doors of the car, I started to sprint after her.
We arrived to the office, where the lady behind the desk greeted my mother and lead her to my grandfathers office. My grandfather no longer worked at the academy, but he was still one of the people in charge. The lady brought me a uniform that looked as if it would fit me. There were other pieces of clothing that worked along with the uniform.
I sat in the office waiting for my mother to finish her conversation with the office ladies. I hated when parents randomly start conversations with people for over half an hour.
The door to the main office opened revealing the guy I saw yesterday at my store. He beamed an innocent smile before walking up to the front and taking a seat behind a computer. He typed some things into the computer and then printed the information out. He walked up to me and tapped the papers on my shoulder.
"I never got your name."
I stood up when I saw my mother heading over to me. "Kapriella."
He looked me up and down before heading to the door.
"I'll see you on the first day of school Kapriella."
He left and my mother soon came to me. I followed her out of the school. I realized after a while that I never asked for his name. At least it gave me a reason to talk to him next time.
For the first time in forever, I was looking forward to go back to school.
