After a weekend of relaxing I explored with my mother and saw the head front it was very pretty. We were heading in that direction when someone came up. That someone I recgonized as Max's dad. Darn, this day was going so well too. "Alouette Grant, is that really you?'' My mother's face had a guarded look on her face."Alouette Johnson, and yes it is me. Bradley Lawrence, you haven't aged a bit." She was overly friendly but you could tell my mom wasn't fully behind her words. "Where have you been hiding?" "Nowhere!" "Ehhemm..." I coughed. "And who are you?" Bradley glared at me. "I'm Elizabeth JOHNSON!" A surprise took over his face, and he turned his raging eyes on my mother. "ALOUETTE YOU HAVE A CHILD!" She nodded tartly. "HOW OLD ARE YOU?" "I'm 17." I spat. "Time flies by if you don't try to stay in touch with one another." My mother said coldly. "Elizabeth as your mother so helpfully pointed out we should catch up. So do me a favor and leave." His gaze was stone cold. "Bradley do not tell Lizzy what to do!" She said finally speaking up. "Thank you, mom." "Lizzy would you please let me catch up with Bradley?" "Excuse me?" I wasn't trying to be a smartass I just couldn't believe my ears. "FINE, I know when I'm not wanted." "Lizzy!" My mother said exasperatedly. "It's fine let her go." I headed up the head front to be alone. Later on, I heard footsteps. I turned and saw Kalie, Monique and Noelle, and I thought it couldn't get any worse. "I thought I said to leave Wilson alone." "And I thought this summer was gonna be spent in the US, looks like we both didn't get what we wanted." "I wish you were there too!" "HALLELUJUAH! we agree on something." "It appears we do." She said narrowing her eyes at me. "For the record, I'M NOT INTERESTED IN HIM." "It matters that he's interested in you." "Why?" "He's mine." "Mmm hmm, whatever makes you sleep at night." "Why you bitch!" "Oh please you're comebacks are becoming repetitive." I rolled my eyes. "Stay alway from wilson." She seemed to spit out each word. "Oh come off it he's not all that." "We are destined to be together." I decided to let myself lay out some facts. "No you're not. Let me tell you how it works. Wilson compliments you once when you are wearing sneakers. You buy every pair of sneakers on the market. He likes you with straight hair and you straighten it every day. You wonder why he never responds or what his responses mean. He flirts with other girls to annoy you. You spend your time and money on him and he probably doesn't even give you a second thought." "Your wrong" Kalie snapped. "By the look on Noelle and Monique's face, I'm right on the money." She glared at them and Monique spoke up, "You should be scared do you know what happened here?" "Monique shut it." "No Monique go on." I said, now genuinely curious."It's just that Andi died here." "I should've guessed." I said hiding my surprise. "Back to Wilson-" Kalie grabbed my hair and yanked me towards the edge. "What are you doing?" I sputtered. "Showing you what Andi saw before she died." She pulled me harder and I stumbled forwards. If help didn't come soon I would be splattered all over the jagged rocks. 5,4 "Kalie let her go." Relief washed over me. Even though it was Max it was someone. "Why do you care so much Max?" "Just let Liz go." Max sounded bored."Oh, it's Liz now? I guess I didn't hear the new development. So LIZ-" "Don't call her that." Max said, getting protective. "Ohhhh, I see you think you have a chance with the new girl don't you?" "Too bad I'm apparently after wilson." She pulled on my hair even harder, which I didn't know was possible. "Let her go." "Fine, it's bad enough I have to hang out with 1 loser and now another one showed up? I'm out." Kalie flung me to the side. For a second I wasn't sure if I was gonna land on gravel or land on rocks at the bottom of the cliff. Max stepped over me and continued talking. "I don't want to see either of you get hurt." "You've never wanted to be the hero. I mean I know you must like her so, It's perfect you can get her to like you before she finds out the truth about you." He looked back at me and a small blush rose in his cheeks. "It's not that at all." "You said you didn't want to see either of us get hurt. How about now." Kalie leaned over the edge and waved her hands. I looked at her friends. Monique had an arm around Noelle whose coloring was drained from her face. "That seems riskier." Max said, sounding bored. "Do us a favor and fall," I said under my breath. Max smirked and Kalie stiffened. She walked over to me and kicked me hard and I turned my face into the gravel. I need to learn how to shut up. "Let's go!" Noelle's voice was small. They walked down the gravel path.
