Lucy was busy writing one of her novels and she indeed spent over a half hour. After a half hour was passed, she took a break from her novel and put a bookmark to where she'll remember where she left off. The blond celestial mage went to relax in a hot bath, and as she's enjoying herself, Cana suddenly appears in her tub and turns out she was sitting in Lucy's apartment the whole time. The card mage asks her about her father and looks quite troubled. She also states that she's thinking of quitting the guild which shocks Lucy and begins to wonder why.
Next day at the Guildhall
Lucy gets with Mirajane about Cana being depressed. And the white haired barmaid tells her that Cana has always been depressed this time of year especially when it comes to an S-Class exam she's been wanting to pass for so long. Later on, Natsu and Happy were the first ones to quickly show up to take a job mission and then leaves. Gray was second to quickly take a job mission and head out. Most of the guild members started to gather up to grab out a job mission. This makes Lucy curious. Mirajane tells her that she'll discover the reason why the guild members are rushing to get job missions done by tomorrow.
Next day: the announcement for the S Class mage promotion trial

Makarov along with Erza, Mirajane, Gildarts, Gohan & Piccolo on stage announces to all guild members about the S Class promotion trial and the trial will take place in Tenrou Island. The guild master picks out 8 participants: Natsu, Gray, Juvia, Elfman, Cana, Freed, Levy and Trunks. The guild members cheers for chosen eight, Cana is one of the participants that doesn't seem to be excited at all. This didn't go unnoticed by 2 people, and those 2 people were Lucy and Trunks. Makarov also gives out the heads up of the technicalities about the trial, like how the current S Class mages will also be there to obstruct their path and then orders the participants to find someone partner up within the week before departing to Tenrou Island. Freed partners up with Bickslow, Natsu chooses Happy, Gray pairs up with Loke, Juvia with Lisanna, Elfman with Evergreen and Levy with Gajeel. Trunks & Cana were the only ones left that don't have a partner yet.
Scene change with Wendy & Carla
While taking a stroll on the streets of Magnolia, Carla warns Wendy that she had a vision that something bad may go down on Tenrou Island and that she doesn't want Wendy to go. But Wendy assures her that it's fine cause no one wanted to partner with her. Suddenly, they run into Trunks who was also taking a stroll and he says to her.
Trunks: I'll partner up with you Wendy. *small smile and looking at Carla* What did you see in your vision Carla?
Carla: Something bad may happen to either Natsu or Cana, and a man with dark clothing appeared in the end of my vision. That's why I don't want Wendy to go.
