Novak's POV
I nervously undid and redid my laces, I didn't know what to expect, especially after yesterday's kiss. We hadn't spoken since then, was it a mistake to her? But she did kiss back. Maybe she kisses people casually.
I undid my laces again and tried tying them into a perfect knot.Seth who was doing his hair stopped and said "Dude if you keep doing that the laces might just come off"
He was more than eager to tag along, Something to do with representative inlaws as he called it.
We had decided to take his car as my motorcycle wasn't parent-friendly and I didn't want to give a wrong impression to her folks.
"Let's go" Seth announced, his hair neatly combed over, his body adorned in a dress shirt and a pant, he looked much older than he was.
"Mate, you forgot your beer belly and a baseball cap to go with the look" I mocked.
"I am playing your father, I have to look it" he stated sincerely.
"Mate seriously, what do you think is going on there?"
"You guys kissed, she invited you over, she obviously wants her folks to approve of you, I am there to be your wingman"
"That's not what's happening, she is danish, there this festival and she invites all of her friends and Hey, how did you know we kissed?"
"Well, you got your head cracked open yesterday and you smiled at me twice, what else could have happened?"
This made me launch the empty beer can in his direction while I couldn't help the smile from breaking out across my face.
"There it is, that whipped boy smile" he laughed, dodging the can.

The night air whipped in our faces, as we silently drove towards her house, Seth momentarily asked for directions that I supplied silently. I was a ball of nervous energy and excitement.
"Oooh, the hills" Seth commented, whistling as we drove closer towards her house.
This was followed by silence.
"Rich people and their gated communities" Seth commented again, trying to ease the tension.
Silence.
Soon we were parked in front of her house which was lit up like Christmas, from one of the trees hung a giant barrel, lit up by fairy lights. A strange version of Christmas.
Seth turned off the ignition and looked at me with those fatherly energies and said "Bro, that girl adores you, chillllll. Her parents will love you too"
"Not if I tell them I deal drugs" I countered, thinking of all the ways I could self-sabotage.
"You do deliveries for me, not sell drugs. Dude, don't utter that" he said seriously.
My phone buzzed in my hand, It was her.
Why are sitting in the car?
Oh, so she can see us.
We walked out of the car, through the well lit up yet silent and desolate garden up to her door.
And before I could ring the bell or knock, she opened the door and greeted us with hugs. I tried my best not to wince as she squeezed my broken ribs, but she noticed as she softly whispered are you okay? before pulling away.
She was adorned in a satin red dress, her face covered in a masquerade mask, cat ears sitting on the top of her head. This was kinky cat Christmas, definitely strange.
