Since the house visit last week, I tried to avoid Ced, for as long as I could.
Today I was to meet up with him to discuss one of his hotels' decor but I just sent my work to Eleanor, his secretary.

I spent the whole day in my Pijamas, watching Netflix. It was now midday. Amanda had come over, flirting with Dilan, my big brother. Both were seated on the kitchen Island pretending to eat a sandwich my bro had made, but I could hear their giggles. LIKE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS!!!

"GET A ROOM", I shouted, fixing my eyes on what I was watching. Until I heard the doorbell ring.

"Finally, my Mozzarella Pizza. I'll get the door", harrying to get my delivery just to see Ced's face, furious could be an understatement.

"Why did you not come to work today? And for the whole of last week?" He asked through his teeth.

"Good afternoon to you too, Mr. Quinn", I replied.

"I am not playing with you Sam, get ready in 5 minutes, or I'll make you", Ced commanded.

Who does he think he is talking to?
"With all due respect Mr. Quinn, I am not going anywhere with you. I sent my work as required, and attouched to it was my resignation letter, so if you'll excu..."

"I declined it", he cut me off. The nerve!
"'I'll accept it on one condition, that is, after you do the interior decor for the house." I gasped.

"You cannot do that. Resignation letters cannot be declined. That is so unprofessional of you"

"Yes I can and I did, meet me in my office tomorrow at 8am. Don't be late." And with that he stepped into his car and drove off.

"You know he is right, you have just been employed not so long ago and you want to quit? You need this job Sam, you need this platform, it can be your break through and you know it", said Dilan.

I turned to him, closing the door behind me. "Since when are you siding with him, I thought you hated him, you should be on my side", I pouted like a kid.

"I am not his side, but you need to grow up, you can handle him, I know you", Dilan added.
Amanda was just nodding her head to whatever Dilan was saying. Unbelievable.

Next day I was at his building on time, about to knock on his door when a well dressed man came out of a dark corner cladded in an Armani Tux, interrupting my about to be a nervous breakdown.

"He's in an urgent meeting right now, but I can keep you company, Neithan, Neithan Quinn at your service", with an exaggerated bow.

God, he looked like a Greek god, but Ced is way better...

sam focus, say something, I said to myself.
Wait, did he say Quinn, as his surname?

"Earth to Miss Beautiful, cat bit your tongue? I know, I tend to have that effect on women very often. So you are...?" He said extending his hand for a hand shake.

"Ohh, I am Sam, uhhmmm Samantha, Samantha Mitchell," I stammered, extending my hand to him.

"Nice to meet you Miss Mitchell. Are you new around here, I've never seen such a gorgeous face near Mr. Clever pants," I blushed. I knew he was talking about Ced.

"Yes I am, I am the new interior designer" I explained.

"I see he got tired of poor Cassie, she was really a snack, but now he has you, he never disappoints. I wonder how his fiancé, Katherine would react if she found out that he has a goddess for an interior designer, you know she is all sorts of crazy," he leaned in whispering the last part, but too close as though he was sure someone was watching.

The office door swang open followed by 'we are not done yet son' firm words from a deep voice.

Mr. Quinn Senior, I presumed.

"Don't you have anything productive to do, Nate? Like picking up after Father?" said Ced.

He had anger in his voice but also mockery. Neithan just raise his hands up, gesturing surrender.

Ced said all this with his arm tight around my waist, in a possessive way, I tried to pull away, so that I don't portray a bad image to this Dad who had just joined us just outside Ced's grand office.

"Father, I'll schedule another meeting together with the investors of the new hotel, have a good day", and with that, he pulled me into his office and closed the door.

Shit, the door has tinted mirrors that a person on the inside can see what's outside, Neithan knew that. What was he up to?

Then what he said about the former interior designer and Katherine being Ced's fiancé hit me again and it hit deep.

Before he could tell me...scratch that, order me to sit down, I turned and walked out of his damn office.
