It was early morning the next day and Overhual was seated at his desk, busy with work. Since the bullets he recently had where destroyed, he had to come up with a (possibly faster) way to recreate new ones. Originally, he had a trading deal with a gang of thugs that wanted in on his plan, but he had to cut it off since he no longer had the resources.
Although busy at work, The incident that that happened yesterday with Y/N lingered wearily. It shouldn't have bothered him but it looped in his mind on constant replay. He couldn't get work done like this.
Overhual started to think of times where Y/N could actually look him in the eye and smile. A ping of satisfaction he got from remembering little Y/N running to him with a cheeked grin and arms out wide. "Let's play, Kai- chan!", she would say. But now that's over. Y/N will never look at him the same and no one is to blame but himself.
Overhual discarded a heavy sigh and leaned back in his chair.
Chrono focused on his part of work on the other side of the room. He couldn't help but notice his boss in distress.
"Something the matter, sir?"
"Well it-... its nothing."
"Is it about the bullets?"
"...Not exactly."
"Sir, You know you can tell me. I'm not your right hand man for nothing. I'm all ears if you'd like to talk." Chronostasis assured, turning around to give all his attention to overhaul. Despite his covered figure that hid his facial expressions and his heavily hooded clothes that masked his face, Chronostasis voice carried enough concern to show he cared.
At first Overhual was hesitant, but then remembered Chronostasis was his friend. They've been through a lot together and he would be the only person he tells these personal thoughts to.
Taking a deep breath, overhaul wheeled his chair around to Chronostasis same direction.
"You know Y/N was my friend in our younger years. In those times never once has there been conflict between us. It's just weird seeing her hate me now. Of course I completely understand why she loathes me, although It's something I'm not used to.
Chronostasis listened to what his boss had to say. Despite always being stoic, emotionless and level headed, there where times where Overhual showed he was indeed still human.
"Well you can always try to restore your past relationship by changing your perspective on her. I'm not entirely sure it would work, but i guarantee it will be better then to not make changes in your behavior towards her."
There's nothing I can do now but try and restore what used to be good terms between us. I'm limited to what I can do, but not by what I can try.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea. What do you think I can do?"
Oh course Chronostasis didn't have a single clue. Hell, he was just as emotionally recked as his boss, but he couldn't just say he didn't know. It was his duty to answer him regardless.
"Well sir, I might not be a hundred percent sure, but if I may suggest changing your attitude towards her. I think she'd appreciate a new you."
"An example?"
"Um... perhaps nicer?"
"You don't think I'm nice to her?"
"No, no! That's not it. It's just that i believe if you treat her more kindly, she'll warm up to you, and maybe even start to forgive you enough to be in good terms." As in not abandoning her into an dark basement again.
"I guess that makes sense."
"How about this. What have you two done in your past that made you friends?"
Overhual leaned back in his chair while folding his arm. What did we do? he thought. As kids their friendship just clicked, there was nothing specific that made them come together, it's just that they didn't want to be apart. But taking it into consideration...
"Well going out to buy snow cones, playing Nintendo and going to the movies aren't exactly good ideas right now."
"Besides the childish activities."
Overhaul took time to think again.
"We spent time together, talked."
"That doesn't sound so bad sir. Talking to her and having a kind attitude sounds like a way to win her back over. But I must tell you, trying to cooperate with Y/N is... hard." Hard is a damn understatement. Trying to tell Y/N to fallow instructions was like telling a dog to grow wings and fly (of course in which this universe isn't impossible). Overhual would need time and help.
Overhual started to think back times where Y/N was most happy. What did they do that made Y/N smile?
Back then every so often, Y/N would want to stop by the book store to view the manga section. Overhual thought she was a nerd and that her obsession with 2D men was hilarious, but he never minded tagging along. When ever she saw a new volume of an awaited novel she'd squeal with joy. It amazed Overhual how the littlest things made Y/N so excited.
All of a sudden, a lightbulb shined brightly above Overhual's head with an idea.
"Take over for me chrono," Overhual said as he stood from behind his desk, grabbing his coat from the nearby hanger. "I've got a different task to do."
