As I walk down the side walk
I tend to admire,
The fresh scent of summer that fills the open air.
As my hands in my pockets play the soft music that I love to listen.
I look ahead.

Seeing a wonderful father and son walking in front of me.
Holding hands
Not willing to let each other go.
Side by side.

Unlike me,
I'm alone.
I have nothing to hold onto.
Nothing to lose.
Yet nothing to gain.

As my hair blows to the very little wind that dances with the sun.
I wish,
I could have had that.
Someone to love.
Someone to hold onto.

Yet here I am.
I have nothing.
Nothing to hold onto.

As they leave
I wonder alone
Following a path that might get me lost.
Yet I don't mind
Because I've been lost.

In my thoughts
In my heart.
In my mind.

As I look up at the blue sky.
I begin to seek the birds.
A beautiful sky.
Colored by the birds.
As I see them fly.
At least
Not one gets left behind.

Yet I'm lost.

But all I can do.
Is admire something
I truly can't have.
Not ever.
Love.
