Bernard Marx
The next day, I pack my suitcase and head to the train station. When I got there I wait for Ms. Crowne to arrive, so we could catch the rocket to The Savage Lands.
For a second, I thought about Henry and how I have not talk to him for a couple of days, but my trail of thought was stop when Ms. Crowne arrive.
"Sorry, I'm late. I was having a hard time picking out the best clothes to take on our vacation," said Ms. Crowne as she runs towards me as her ginger hair moves around in the wind.
"Don't worry about it. We can still make it if we run," I said as I grab my suitcase by the handle to sprint to the train station door. Ms. Crowne soon follows with her suitcase in hand and we make it inside.
When we arrived at the spaceport, I sign us in and got the tickets for the vacation. Then, we were allow to enter the rocket. Most of the passengers are younger Alphas and there was a couple of adult Alphas. We sat down in our light blue seats and then the safety instructions were announce though our contact lens.
I look over to Ms. Crowne and she looks nervous, so I squeeze her hand and tell her not to worry.
All Alphas, when we are little, had to go to The Savage Lands as a lesson on what can happen if we don't listen to the rules. Ms. Crowne closes her eyes and squeezes my hand gently.
The rocket took off and in a couple of seconds we were in space. I look out the rocket window and saw the beautiful Earth. After that, the rocket went down and in a couple of minutes, we were at The Savage Lands.
After getting our luggage, everyone was escorted by Beta guards to a big yellow bus to get to the hotel. As I got to the hotel, I was ask my name and then given a golden metallic A+ badge while Ms. Crowne got a B+ badge. The receptionist also gave Ms. Crowne a yellow book that is about Savage people's culture. I was given the hotel number and room keys.
I got to the room and I was excited to show the hotel to Ms. Crowne, since there were no hotels in New London, but when I open the window door of the balcony I was disappointed. I could only see the small amount of blue the rest was a big grey building preventing a view outside.
"This isn't how it was before. You could see outside the trees and animals roaming around. Of course, there was a fence that kept the citizen in but I could also see the sunset when the sun went down," I said to Ms. Crowne.
"Maybe the other window has a better view," I said as walk over and I open the other window in the room only to be disappointing once again. The scene was terrible it was a sea of people making out and half-naked.
Why come here if they are only going to make out and have sexual intercourse? They should have just stayed in New London. Ms. Crowne must have saw the disappointment in my face because she pulls me away from the window.
"Here, Henry, take this," said Ms. Crowne as she hands me the yellow book that she got on the main floor. I take the book from Ms. Crowne and look at it.
She then starts to take out equipment from her suitcase and pit it onto the hotel desk, so she could work on gathering data for her program. I decided to leave her alone as she works. I move over to the bed in the middle of the room and I open the book to start reading.
After a while, I look over to Ms. Crowne and see that she is still working on getting audio from outside and scanning for good pictures to use.
I had ask before what she was doing and that was what she told me. I personally didn't find any interest in all technicalities of getting the data, so I hum and left the topic alone.
After another long while, I find something interesting that I want to share with Ms. Crowne.
"Did you know that people here practice monogamy. They only pick one partner to marry and be with," I told Ms. Crowne and she hum in response.
"Or that there different sexual orientations like straight, bisexual, gay, transsexual, asexual, demi-sexual, and many more," I continue to explain to Ms. Crowne.
In New London, no one cares about sexual orientation. They just had sexual intercourse with who they wanted to. Gender was never something anyone worried about; thus, the Savage people are different from us in that aspect.
"Tomorrow on our tour, I want to go see a wedding like what the brochure talks about," I told Ms. Crowne as she hums back to me.
At our hotel room, I had found a brochure laying around next on the bed that had pictures and information about the Savage Tour.
For the rest of the day, I spent reading the yellow book or brochure and Ms. Crowne work on the data she was collecting.
