Chapter Five

Henry Foster

Today, I was having a good day. I'm almost done with the work The Director had given me and everything was moving in the right direction. I haven't talk with Ben since our fight and I want to keep it that way. He had also not tried to contacted me, since.

At noon, The Director called me to his office. I immediately walk over to The Director's office and I wait next to his desk while he is talking to someone through his contact len.

"Sorry about that, Henry. I was busy talking to someone because of a problem that just occurred with particular building management," said The Director as he explains.

"No problem, sir," I reply politely.

"Please sit down, Henry, I have something to talk to you about," said The Director. I move over to the couch in front of The Director's office and set down. The Director takes a deep breath and asks.

"Why did you take out your contact len from 9:03 pm till 10:25 pm yesterday?" Said The Director as he takes out a yellow Soma from his Somas container on his desk.

"Sir, I--," I try to respond to him calmly in hopes that I was not being suspicious. I know that if I say the wrong words then Ben could get in trouble. Everyone in the building knows that The Director already dislikes Ben and I did not want to add more on to the dislike.

"Looks like Mr. Marx also did the same thing around the same time," said The Director as he gave me a stern look.

"Sorry, I was trying to give Ben some tips on how to do his work better at the office. He has been trying to get on your good side, but I thought people would misunderstand his intention; therefore, we took out our contact lens," I respond with the best lie I could think of on the spot.

"How many times do I need to tell you, Henry, that you need to move away from Mr. Marx. He has always being a bad influence on you. I have always told you that you're going to do great things while he will not," said The Director as he repeats the same thing like he has done countless times before.

"You need to be surrounded by other Alpha that will be the future leaders of New London, not Alpha that will only follow," continues The Director as he move his hand on my shoulder slowly.

With his other hand he gives me the yellow Soma to swallow. Which I accept and consume the Soma to relax.

"I will make sure not to talk with Mr. Marx from now on," I told him as I also try to reassure myself. After, I move away from The Director grasp and head back to my office.

After a while of reading the guideline and responsibility of what a director does and doesn't do. I slowly start to get even more worry. Till my mind can only think about Ben. Is he okay?

By now he would cave in and try to at least talk to me. We always fight but Ben has never stopped talking to me for more than two days even when I mess up and do something absurd.

Ben knows that two Alphas can't have sex while an Alpha and a Beta can. We have always known and understand that we can't cross a line. Both of use will regret later.

I heard that there even rehabilitation that people to go to when they go against the New London rules. There also rumors that no one ever comes back from there.

I need to stop thinking like this. Henry, you need to focus on working right now.

Later in the afternoon, I got even more concern for Ben, so I decide to go over to his house one last time just to make sure he was okay. One last time and I am done. I really need to listen The Director said if I want the next Director position.

After I finish work, I heard over to Ben's house only to be told by his Gamma that Ben had left with a female Beta for vacation. The Gamma then tells me that Ben will be gone for about two weeks. Also, Ben left with a big smile on his face.

The words that bother me the most was that Ben was gone with a female Beta AND he left with a smile on his face. In my head, I would hear the words repeat over and over. Ben did not even tell me he was leaving.

I was somehow going to go get to the bottom of this, so the first thing I did was run over to Wilhelmina's house. The main reason why I was at Wilhelmina's house was because she is Ben's friend and when he is not with me then he is at her house.

When I finally arrive to Wilhelmina's house I found out that she had kicked all the Beta out of her inner house and they were moping around in the outer part of the house waiting untill she let them back in again. I bypass everyone and found Wilhelmina painting a picture of different types of Somas.

"Hello, Wilhelmina, do you know wher--," I said as soon as I saw her but was cut off in the middle of my questioning.

"Where Ben went and who he is with?" Ask Wilhelmina as she continues my question and doesn't look up from her painting. I nod my head in response as I move close to the painting, so she could see me better.

"I would but where the fun in that," she responds and then move her mouth to smirk at me.

"Let us not play games just tell me where Ben is and who he is with," I demand from Wilhelmina.

The tension in the room was heavy. After a couple moments of staring, Wilhelmina gave in and said what I want to hear.

"Bernard went to The Savage Lands with Lenina Crowne," said Wilhelmina as she stops looking at me and continues to paint on the canvas.

"Your jealousy is showing darling."

"I'm not jealous at all," I said as I left Wilhelmina's house.

Could I really be jealous? Jealousy is something that is unacceptable and could be a downfall for New London citizens; thus, I can not be jealous, not one bit.

I have been trying to find images of Bernard Marx and Henry Foster together in the TV series, but I can't screenshot anything from the show 😭😭😭
