Interview with @aquarliam

1) How did you find out about Wattpad?

My friend mentioned it to me a couple years ago because we were talking about where we could read fanfictions. I found this site easier to read stories than on tumblr, so I stayed on here haha

2) At what age did you start to take an interest in writing?

When I was 19. I hated to write in school (and I still do), so I never took interest to writing anything else. But then I started seeing short imagines on instagram & I just thought to myself that I could try it out. Then my friend encouraged me to try writing fanfiction, and that's kind of what sparked my interest

3) Do you feel pressure to update due to the amount of readers you have?

Ah yeah sometimes. It gets stressful when people comment to update or update faster because I do want to write & update it for them to read but sometimes I just don't have the time with school and everything else

4) Who would you say is your biggest inspiration as a writer?

I really loved reading books by Sarah Dessen, Alyson Noel, and Simone Elkeles so I would say they're my inspiration. I could get so immersed in their books and feel like I was actually in the story, which I absolutely love. I only hope that my stories can make people feel the way their stories made me feel

5) Do you have a favorite out of the books you've written?

Road Trip is definitely my favorite because I have a stronger connection with the message of the story, and I just really had a lot of fun writing it with all the traveling. Although Royalty is becoming a close second because love stories are always fun lol

6) What is your greatest challenge as a writer?

I think it's just being satisfied with chapters I put out. Sometimes it takes me so long to get a chapter done because I will have such a hard time trying to figure out if I actually like how it is and I'll change a lot of it before I post it. I doubt myself sometimes when I write, so that's always a challenge for me to kind of overcome

7) How has writing affected your life?

Writing has affected my life soooo much! I have never spent this much time doing anything haha. I'm always thinking of things to put in my stories, and even when I'm out in class or watching tv, I'm always thinking & getting inspiration to write. It's kind of taken over my life, like I don't want to do anything else but sit and write lol

8) Have you really just sat down and taken a few seconds to realize just how popular your works have become?

I have actually sat down and stared at the number of reads on my stories for a long time lol. I don't really think I'd consider anything of mine to be 'popular', I don't know I just don't see them that way in my head. It's a weird feeling when people say the stories are popular or even that I'm popular haha. But I remember with Road Trip it was almost overnight that it started gaining a lot of attention and I was like whoa what the heck is going on here ?? Still to this day it amazes me how many people have read my story and even voted on it. It's all so crazy in my opinion, and I still haven't been able to process the attention my stories have gotten

9) Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

Do not give up on your writing!! I know there are times when you think that your stuff might be crap or you think it's just horrible, but there are always people out there that will enjoy what you write! Your skills always improve the more you continue to write, so don't feel discouraged. What you think might be bad, someone else will think it's great. And even if you don't get feedback or get the feedback that you want, don't let it keep you from writing. Things take time, so don't give up if things don't happen right away!

10) Is there anything you would like to say to your fans/ supporters?

Thank you thank you thank you!! You have helped me get to where I am right now with your positive comments and encouragement. I appreciate you guys sooo much!
