Interview with @vvinterfell

What first inspired you to start writing (and at what age did you start)?

Um well when i was like, five my year one teacher said i had a good imagination and since then all I've ever wanted to do is be an author and I started writing when I was six ((tbh I wouldn't call it writing it was horrendous))

What challenges do you face as a writer?

Challenges?? idk there's a lot of me lying on the floor with my legs in the air bc I can think of a good plot and I don't have many experiences to draw back on like I've never been in love or done anything extraordinary so I have to make up a lot of things

Who is your biggest inspiration as a writer?

Alexandra ardonetto and alexander maksik I'd say. There's writers that I admire (j.k Rowling, Cassandra Clare, George Orwell, C.S Lewis) but Alexandra ardonetto published a book when she was 14 and alexander maksik has the most beautiful book called you deserve nothing which is my favourite book ever

Do you have any plans or goals for the new year?

Plans and goals are to get skinnier, start using makeup and go for more and more runs. and to drink coffee for the first time, go to more cafés and bookstores, smile at people and also to kiss someone. also to bump into Michael Clifford on the street, have a conversation with him and hug him and get a good quality selfie where I don't look like a drowned rat.

How has writing affected your life?

Writing's affected my life sOOoo much oh god I've based my life around writing and I'm constantly storing away ideas to make into stories when my friends talk to me and I'm writing in my head all the time and if I don't attempt writing for a few days I go crazy and I don't sleep as much and I snap at everyone. I've met so many people through wattpad who've impacted on my life so much and shaped me into the person who I am today. writing and sharing my work online has also boosted my self esteem so much. I still hate myself, but a bit less than I did last year. I practically function on compliments people give my writing. also my parents are always going on about how I never show them aNYTHING of what I do and how I must be nOT WRITING because I never show them

Do you think in the future you'll pursue writing as a career?

Well idk I want to go into politics to give proper rights to asylum seekers who come to australia seeking refuge or teach kids in third world countries how to read, but I'd also like to be a journalist who does war coverage, like the ones who go into Syria and sedan. or maybe I'll end up writing an angsty novel that talks about LGBTQ rights and feminism and relevant things, I'd like that. I think that whatever happens I'll probably end up writing in my future. If my writing can help improve someone's life, I want to do that.

How did you discover wattpad?

Ok so um so I used to run a fan account for all these books and TV shows ((nERD ALERT!!!!)) and a girl I followed posted a johnlock fanfiction on here and I was johnlock af so I downloaded the app and read it and then when I started liking 5sos I typed the band name into the search bar and got into fanfiction

How did you become so popular on wattpad?

Everyone asks me this omg ok I basically made friends with all these girls who eventually got popular and I rode along on their coattails and then ended up posting the fuck list which people actually liked for some reason

Due to all of your readers, do you ever feel pressured to change to please them?

No aha for some reason they all seem to like me for who I am and when I feel like I should change for aNYONE I remind myself that they're not the ones with 1m reads on an irrelevant social media site

Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

Don't!!! deny!!! yourself!!! the!!! chance!!! to!!! experience!!!! new!!! things!!!! i once ate a chilli by accident and I cried and ate two tubs of yogurt but now I can write a flawless paragraph on what it's like to accidentally eat a chilli. the more emotion you can put into a story, the better. don't be afraid to pour yourself into a character. write the ending you want, not what your readers want. also-- YOUR READERS DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE WORLD YOU ARE CREATING, YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING THIS IS SO IMPORTANT OH MY GOD

Is there anything else you would like to say to your supporters?

Thank u for like supporting me guys i don't say it enough but you guys are like family to me god that's lame but u guys keep me alive and happy I love u all so much
