When I headed to Jimin and Taehyung's dorm room a few days later, I was getting apprehensive. Although Taehyung was in a few of my classes, he didn't sit next to me after that first day and hardly even acknowledged my existence anymore. I felt stupid heading to his room to return some silly jacket he was probably never going to wear again.
And yet I found the courage within myself to knock on that door. In my head I was praying for Jimin to open it. But do I ever have such luck?
Of course, a smiley Taehyung swung the door open, his dark wavy hair laying messily in his eyes. Seeing me stand there with a strained expression on my face made his smile slowly drop bit by bit.
"Hey...", he seemed confused to see me.
"Hi, I'm just here to return this", I said quickly, holding the extravagant coat out in front of me while avoiding his eyes.
"Oh!", he sounded happy, so I glanced up to see his demeanor relax with another grin, "You remembered!"
"I mean...", I stood awkwardly, not knowing where to look exactly. Into his eyes was still not an option. "It's hard to forget when something this hideous is lying around your room."
I couldn't help that little jab of a comment, it just slipped out. At the same time, it was the truth and he definitely took offense.
"Well excuse me for having some fashion sense", he retorted, looking my outfit made of a black hoodie and shorts up and down.
"Rude", I scoffed back at him.
"I'm not the one being rude here", he frowned, "You called my favorite jacket hideous."
"And you're the one that's looking at me like...", I trailed off as I temporarily forgot how to express myself under his stare.
"Like what?", he blinked at me, feigning innocence.
"Like... God, you're infuriating!", I groaned, wanting more than anything to throw this coat at him and run away.
Instead of reacting to what I said, he seemed to be spacing out. As he leaned against the doorframe, his eyes trailed into his dorm room, his demeanor turning lighter again.
"Look, I just-", I started to break the odd silence.
"Why don't you come in?", he cut me off with a grin.
"What?", I naturally took a step back, "I don't think..."
"Oh, c'mon, Charlotte", he gestured for me to follow as he walked backwards into the room.
Maybe it was just me being stupid or maybe it was the way my name rolled so beautifully over his lips. He said it like it was the most delicate thing in the world. Careful not to break it. It almost had a soft french ring to it in the way he pronounced it. How on earth was I so enamored with him saying my boring old name? I definitely had issues. Either way, I headed into that dorm room against my own better judgement.
Walking in, I spotted Jimin sitting at their tiny kitchen table, poking around some food with chopsticks with a displeased expression.
"Man, Korean food sucks here", he pouts before noticing I entered the dorm, "Oh, hey, Char!"
"Actually, New York has some really good Korean food. Maybe just don't buy any at the grocery store...", I couldn't help responding.
"But nothing's like how they make it at home", Taehyung interjected with his arms crossed.
"Do you want something to drink, Char?", Jimin then asked, getting up from his seat.
"Oh no, I'm fine. I'm actually just here to return Taehyung's jacket", I said and tried to hand it to him for the fifth time.
