A not so nice trip

~ trigger warning ~

It was when the late fall winds started to pick up that our university decided it would be a good idea to organize a camping trip for the students. Us sophomores were asked to participate and Evie was, of course, convincing me to go.

To be honest, I wasn't so keen on camping. The idea of bugs crawling beneath me as I try to sleep in the cold of nature never really seemed very appealing.

On the other hand, this was no ordinary camping trip. This was a college camping trip. Days of drinking with the excuse of enjoying the fresh air in upstate New York. And that obviously appealed to my best friend.

I heard Taehyung was planning to go and since I hadn't heard from him in a couple weeks, I was leaning towards going as well. That final push from Evie literally yelling at me to go is what got me to finally pack my bags and before I knew it, I was standing in front of a large travel bus packed with rowdy college students.

The events that transpired in those next few moments is what made me wish to have never set foot on that damn bus.

"Woo, woo! Let's go, Char!", Evie cheered as she jumped in excitement.

"Woo, woo", I echoed in a lot less excitement as we followed the line to get on the bus.

I managed to find two free seats and sat down, expecting Evie to join me. But when I turned around, she was waving to me apologetically from across the bus, pointing at Michael, who was now standing next to her.

"I'll sit with you on the way back, okay Char?", she called to me before plopping down next to her boy toy.

I sighed, rolled my eyes and sunk into my own seat. The thought of getting off the bus crossed my mind and I should've acted on it. But I didn't. So instead I had to witness this situation unfolding.

The bus was almost completely full with the last few students getting on. That's when a familiar fluffy haired boy stepped in. He was as put together as ever with his long Burberry coat and dark leather shoulder bag. Only now he had a girl in tow. A girl with curly black hair.

It was Taehyung and Lily. And they were holding hands. Holding hands as they walked down the aisle of the bus.

My brain stopped working.

They walked closer and closer towards where I was sitting and it was then that I realized the only seats still available were right behind me. I couldn't peel my horrified eyes away from them. Taehyung only glanced at me for a second, quickly looking away before it became awkward.

I gulped as they sat down behind me. That's when I started overhearing the whispering from the students around me.

"Yeah, apparently they're dating", one person said, making my heart sink into my stomach.

"Wait, really? I thought he was dating that weird girl", another replied.

"You mean the one sitting in front of them alone? Yeah, that's awkward", someone else remarked.

Somehow I wished it wasn't true. Not for my sake, but just because of the fact that Taehyung didn't even like Lily like that. He's said it before. It pained me to see him leading people on.

And yet, I could perfectly overhear the conversation happening behind me.

"Babe, did you bring your sleeping bag?", Lily asked in sickly sweet voice.

"Yeah", Taehyung's deep voice merely replied.

"Oh", she hummed back, "Otherwise I would've suggested us sharing one."
