Things had been odd between us although Taehyung told me over and over again that he wouldn't be applying to the program and would stay in New York until he graduated with his bachelor's degree. While I somewhat believed him, I felt horrible. The way he lit up when hearing there was a spot open in his dream program kept replaying in my mind. There was no way he could give up on all that just to be able to stay in New York with me.

It was one of our last nights in Korea though and we told each other we were going to have a great time at Hoseok's party. So as we got dressed up for the night, we laughed and had fun, pushing all the negative feelings to the back burner.

I felt confident in my short red dress and Taehyung looked handsome as always in his fancy button-up and dark dress pants. When we stepped into Hoseok's apartment, however, all that confidence suddenly flew out the window.

His apartment was a two-story wonder in the heart of Seoul with floor to ceiling glass windows and sleek and modern furniture decorating the place. Namjoon had mentioned he spent all his money on his home, but I could never have imagined a place like this. To top it all off, the apartment was filled with beautiful looking people, drinking and having fun as they danced along to the blaring music.

"Tae...", my hand immediately found its way into his as I cowered into his shoulder, "Are we at some kind of elite party? I feel so freaking out of place."

"Don't worry", he chuckled back, "They're just Hobi's friends."

"All of them?", I gawked at the sheer amount of people in the room.

"Taehyung! Char!", an excited Hoseok bounced up to us in the entrance with his arms out wide, "Welcome to my house!"

"It's quite impressive", I said in a small voice.

"Thank you!", he lit up even more at the compliment, "Come in, have some drinks, meet some friends, the only rule here is to have the time of your lives!"

And so we were lead to the bar area where Jimin was already standing and waiting for us, drinks lined up on the counter in front of him.

"There you are!", he greeted us happily, immediately shoving beverages into our hands.

As we sipped on cocktails, we talked and laughed with Jimin until the other hyungs joined us as well. Taehyung draped his arm around me, keeping me close and comfortable leaning against his chest. In those moments I felt like everything was just fine.

"Gosh, isn't Hobi so amazing though? I want to live a life like this...", Jimin pouted after a while.

"You can, Jiminie!", Hoseok swung his arm around the younger as he pranced over, "I told you about that business proposition."

"Yeah, I know", he sighed in return, "But school comes first. I'm finishing college and then we'll see."

"Responsible choice, Jimin", Namjoon said as he joined the conversation as well, "Speaking of which, I heard there's a spot opening up in the innovations program, Taehyung."

I could feel him tense up next to me, but he kept his arm around me nevertheless.

"Uh, yeah... I'm not going for it", he told him in resolve.

"You're not going for it?", Namjoon repeated in disbelief, "But your chances are so good! You're literally the first candidate they'd pick, you were right on the cut-off line last time!"

"Y-yeah but I'm not going to reapply", he said once more, but his voice wavered this time. I could feel a knot forming in my throat. "I'm staying in New York until I graduate."
