Lauren POV

Camila is sound asleep snuggled up against me. I grab my phone and look at the time. It's already 8:00 p.m. and I have a couple of text messages from my mom.

Mom: Your father wants to see you.

Mom: Get home please

Mom: Lauren please come home.

I roll out of Camila's bed carefully. I look at the brunette who looks so peaceful sleeping. I didn't want to wake her but I don't want to leave out of the blue. I go with the option that makes sense. I grab a notebook out of my school bag and write her a small note.

I rip the piece of paper out and set it on her night stand by her phone. I lean down and kiss Camila's forehead. "Bye beautiful."

A small smile forms on her lips. Even in a deep sleep this girl is beautiful. I quietly tiptoe out of her room. I close the door behind me. I go down the steps and reach the front door.

"Lauren." I jump hearing Sinu's voice when I wasn't expecting her to be here. "Is Camila upstairs I need to tell her something?"

Does she think I would be here without her? "Yeah she is up there. She is in her room but she is asleep."

"Why is she asleep so early?" Sinu questions me. "What did you two get up too that made her so tired?"

I could feel my cheeks heat up. "Well uh... we were hanging out since it was her birthday." Now I know how Camila felt with my mom.

"Okay well I'm sure I'll see you again this week. Bye Lauren."

That was a little awkward. "Yeah, I'll see you soon."

I exit the home and rush to my house. Before going in I took a couple of deep breath. I turn the door handle and walk in. My eyes quickly scan the room.

"Mom?" I question as I take a seat on the couch. "Where is dad at?"

"I've been trying to reach you."

"I know. I fell asleep at Camila's." I tell her which isn't a complete lie.

"Did Camila have a good birthday?"

I look at her a little confused. "Yeah I believe so. Why did I need to hurry up?" I know it wasn't to ask me about Camila's birthday.

My mom gets up from her spot and comes over to sit by me. This is an indication of something bad. "Lauren I need to tell you something about your father."

She is starting to scare me with the sound in her voice. "What is it? Where is he anyways? Did he get released?"

"He got released." She assures. "Lauren your father is gone."

I can see that. "When will he be home?"

"He won't."

My heart stops. "What do you mean he is gone?"

"He tried to wait for you to come home but you didn't. He left us. He is gone for good Lauren."

Hot tears start to burn my eyes. "Why didn't you stop him?"

"His mind was made up. He didn't want to be stopped." My mom claims. "He did what he thought he had to do."

I push myself off the couch. "I'll be in my room."

"He left you a note on your night stand." My mom yells out.

I slowly walk into my room. I feel like my knees are going to give out as tears keeping flowing. I shut my door and go straight to the piece of paper lying on the table.
