Camila POV
Jesse drops me off at my house and I rush inside. As I get halfway up the stairs I hear my mom downstairs. "Is everything okay?"
I stop and look at her. "Everything is fine. Do you care if I go out?"
The look on her face tells me she doesn't want me to. "Do you think that is a smart idea? You only been here for a couple of days."
I walk down the steps and lean on the rail. "I want to experience what high school life is, even if it's just a high school party. I'm 17 and the closet thing I have to high school was singing tonight. I promise I will disguise myself so no one knows it's me. You can even check me before I go out."
I watch as her chest expands out and back in. "You know high school parties usually involve drinking. Your dad will flip out on me if he finds out, not to mention the press. They die to get their hands on stories like this."
"No one will find out mom. Please." I push my lip out as far as I could. "I want to be semi normal for once."
I can see she is cracking, "Okay, but I want to see you before you go."
I wrap my arms around her as I squeal in excitement. "Thank you so much."
I head back up the stairs when she stops me. "Who are you going with? How do you even know about a party and where to go?"
"I met this girl at my meet and greet my last concert. She goes to school here. I talked to her tonight." I tell her truthfully so she is aware of what is going on. "She knows about me living here. I don't think you should panic. She seems trustworthy"
She tapes her finger nails on the rail. "Just because someone seems to be trustworthy doesn't mean they are. You need to be very careful."
I understand where she is coming from, I really do. "I know mom. I don't have friends that aren't in the business. I know it's all a risk."
With that I turn up the stairs and hurry to get ready. I have no idea how long it will take Lauren and since I don't have her number I don't want to make her wait too long outside. I go to the bathroom and open up the drawer. I grab out color contacts. My eyes are brown, so I have blue and green contacts. I usually do this when I want to go shopping or out in public without people recognizing me.
I grab the blue ones and put them in. After that I grab my eyeliner and put it on heavy. I never been one to load make up on, so it helps with disguising.
I look in the mirror and realize that someone like Megan who is obsessed with me might figure it out. I run to my room and find a pair of clothes to wear. I go with a plaid shirt and jeans. I never one to be "country". I go back to the bathroom and realize I need to do something with my hair. I get a brush and pull it up in a high ponytail. I also grab out a hairband and wrap it around my head to keep my hair from flying in my eyes.
I take a good look at myself in the mirror and I almost don't recognize myself. It's crazy how eye color can change the look of someone so much. Let's not forget the gothic eyes with a country outfit. If people recognize me, it will at least show me not to risk anything else while I'm here. Who knows, if this all works out maybe I can have a double life in a way.
I grab my phone and head down the stairs. My mom was waiting for me. It looks like she hasn't left the bottom of the stairs since I went upstairs. "What do you think?" I put my arms out and take a spin so she can get a full look.
"I will always be able to tell it's you. You are my baby girl." She sighs, "but I think you might be able to get away with this for a night. I want you to be careful Karla. You aren't use to being around people who aren't in the business. It can get overwhelming or might be pressured to do things to fit in. Please use your head and don't do something you will wake up tomorrow and regret."
