The next morning we woke up and settled our things and walked off to the city, where everyone greeted us with "hurray's" and "long live the king". Bard was against it, after he discovered who Thorin was. I personally didn't found it a good idea, too but try to talk the quest out of a proud and stubborn dwarf. You will have more luck to defeat Smaug than to succeed.

Smaug is another story... I practically was his mother... well, in a very odd way. I had something for dragons and yeah... don't blame me, I'm thousands of years old and when you're boring you try things. I once shapeshifted into a dragon to beware a city from the fire of a dragon. I got pregnant and he was the result. I imagined a hundred times, during this quest, how I would explain that to Thorin... no way is the best. It ends only being kicked from the company. And I didn't wanted to be alone and banned... again.

The dwarves walked proudly through the crowd accepting every compliment and waving at the people around them. I walked with them to say goodbye and didn't realize, that Kili has come with us. As I turned around I could see Thorin speaking to him. "You stay here... you will only slow us down. Come along when you're well again." I could see the shock in Kili's face branded with pain he barely couldn't stand. I put a hand on Kili's shoulder to comfort him a bit. "I stay here Kili and look after you, you have to rest." He just nodded and let his head hang. Poor Kili.

Thorin gave me a knowing nod and gave me a half smile. I nodded back. He then turned around and walked to the boat, where Fili already heard and saw the whole scene. I saw them argue and Thorin wanted to hold him. "Don't be ridiculous, you belong to the company!" Thorin calmly talked to him. "No, I belong with them." He pointed at us. Did he just meant Kili and me? "I stay with them, it's my duty to cure the sick." Oin said and stepped out of the boat.

After a few minutes, the boat was only a point in the distance. I looked back at Kili who was hissing in pain and stumbling back. I catched him before he could hit the floor and sat down on a stone, him on my lap. "We should have medicine, maybe the Master of this city has some." I rolled my eyes. "He will not help us, he is only happy, that the major part of the company is finally away." Fili looked at me with a feared expression. "Then where?" Oin asked me. "We know another one who would maybe help us." I looked in the direction of Bard's house. "Agreed, let's go quick there." Fili nodded and we stood up, I with Kili in my arms as everyone exclaimed in surprise. "Bofur!" - "Hey laddie, did you too oversleep?" I rolled my eyes. "Bofur, in a few day it's Durin's day and you oversleep?" He just reddened. "Sorry, I hadn't very much sleep the last months. Kili is ill?" I nodded. "Yes, he was hit by a poisoned arrow, I think."

"Bard, I'm here to ask you once more your help." He looked at me and then down at the dwarves. "No, I had enough of dwarves, just go away." Fili held his foot between the door and the frame, before Bard could close the door. "Please, my brother is sick and he needs a help." he looked at him with adorable puppy eyes, that even Bard couldn't resist. "Ok, come in, quick!" He looked around and then opened the door for us to come in. We stepped in and I placed Kili on the bed. He stirred now in pain. "I honestly don't know, how long he is going to survive." I looked up to Fili.

A few days later, the situation became worse. "Do you have some Athélas here?" I turned around to face Bard. "What's that?" He looked somewhat puzzled. "It's king's leaf." - "For us it's just weed we feed to the pigs." Bofur suddenly seemed to have a vision. He pointed at Kili "Don't move!" He said to him. "I don't think he is going anywhere, Bofur." He smirked. "I'm right back." He said and ran out of the door.

Kili finally came to a rest, after I put some herbage on his wound. "He finally found some rest." I sighed. Fili slumped in the chair next to me. "Where do you think, went Bofur?" I shrugged my shoulders, as I rubbed my fingers free from the blood in the bowl of water. "He went to search some king's leaf, I suppose." After I finished, I leaned back and sighed. "A bit of rest would be good for you, Blondie." He turned his face to me. "Yeah, but I can't sleep while my brother is in danger. And I am now doomed to wear the name forever? I feel like a pet." I patted his head and I smirked wide at him. "Maybe you are." I winked at him. "Not fair." He pouted playfully and crossed his arms.

We were left alone in the living room. "Merenwen... Should I die..." I broke him off. "Don't! I don't want to hear it okay?" He smiled. "But you never know." - "If you die, Blondie, I will kick your lame ass personally out of Valhalla!" - "You care for me!" his stupid smile plastered all over his face. "Nah..." But I was interrupted by his lips crashing hungrily on mine. He instantly licked with his tongue over my lips and I parted them to let him explore my mouth. I was too shocked and pleased with his action, that I just went along with him and answered by pulling him closer to me.

After a few minutes, what seemed to be hours, we parted panting for air. He leaned his forehead to mine and closed his eyes. "I wanted to do this since the first moment my eyes saw you." he smiled warm. "Merenwen, I know that you fancy my uncle but I wanted one divine memory, a breath of life, before I could die." He looked somewhat sad. Did he really think, that I fancy his uncle? I bit my under lip. "Well... you know... I fancy the future king under the mountain... actually a lot..." I lifted my hand to a blonde strand of hair of his to wrap my finger around it. "He is strong, a warrior, stubborn, cheeky, handsome and really tall for a dwarf... and his blue orbs, I could swim in it, everytime I look at them." I lifted my head to meet his gaze. He looked very sad. "...and right now, he's looking very sad at me, because he thinks, I would fancy another man than him."

I could see his eyes widen. "You... you mean...!" I nodded. "Yes, Blondie... I mean you!" He grinned and attacked me with a hug. He then enclosed gently my face in his hands and started to kiss me softly on my lips. "I adore you, my angel." He whispered to my ear, as he began to leave light kisses there. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the sensation. "I worship you." He whispered while he left soft trails of kisses down my neck. The vibration of his hushed voice on my skin made me shiver in pleasure. I moaned softly.

He softly pulled down the strap off my shoulder and continued his kisses down my shoulders. He then looked back at me as he was asking for permition to go further. I cupped his face between my hands and kissed him passionately. "I love you Fili." I murmured in the kiss, not aware what I was saying... I've never said that to anyone! Pulled back from the kiss and put a hand on my mouth, staring at him with wide shocked eyes. A tear rolled down Fili's cheek. "I needed to hear that... Thank you so much Merenwen. I love you too!" I smiled at him and looked down to my hands. "You're the first I told that."
