(Y/N)'s P.O.V
It was a bright and sunny afternoon. My family and I were in our backyard, enjoying the cool breeze. Everything felt so peaceful.
After a while, my mother stood up and started preparing to head out. Curious, I asked her:
"Oka-san, where are you going?"
She smiled warmly.
"I'm just going to the market to buy some ingredients for dinner tonight.""Oooh~! Can I come with you, Oka-san?"
She chuckled softly.
"Alright, my dear."I quickly rushed over to her, taking her hand.
"Bye, Otō-san! See you later!" I called out to my father.
He smiled gently.
"Bye, sweetheart. Be good to your Oka-san and listen to her, alright?""Yes, Otō-san! I will!" I said cheerfully, waving goodbye as we left.
Third Person P.O.V
On the way to the market, (Y/N) and her mother were greeted by their neighbors.
"Good afternoon, (M/N)!" one of the women called out.
"Why, good afternoon to you too!" (M/N) replied with a friendly smile.
"My, your daughter has grown into such a beautiful young girl. She truly takes after her mother," the woman added kindly.
"Thank you, Auntie! I really like your hairpin—where did you buy it?" (Y/N) asked excitedly.
The woman beamed.
"Why thank you, (Y/N). I bought it near the fruit shop.""Really?!" she asked, eyes sparkling. The lady giggled at her cuteness.
"Yes, my dear."
"Oka-san, can we buy that hairpin? Pretty please~~~!" (Y/N) pleaded with wide, hopeful eyes.
Her mother smiled, brushing a hand through her hair.
"Alright, my dear. Since you've been such a good girl, I'll buy it for you.""Yay!! Thank you so much, Oka-san! I love you!" (Y/N) said, hugging and kissing her mother. The lady beside them smiled at the touching moment.
"Thank you for telling us about the shop," (M/N) said with a polite bow. "(Y/N), let's go. It was nice chatting with you!"
With that, they bowed politely and continued on their way.
—Time Skip—
It was sunset by the time (Y/N) and her mother returned home. (F/N) greeted them at the door as (M/N) went straight to the kitchen to start preparing dinner.
(Y/N)'s father noticed something sparkling in her hair.
"(Y/N), where did you get that hairpin?"
"Oka-san bought it for me because I was being a good girl!" she said proudly.
"Oh really? Well, it suits you perfectly, my dear," he smiled, patting her head.
"Really? Thank you, Otō-san!" she beamed and gave him a tight hug.
"Dinner's ready, you two!" (M/N) called out.
"Yay!! Dinner's ready!"
—Time Skip (After Dinner)—
After cleaning up from dinner, the family was about to go to bed when suddenly—
CRASH!
A monstrous figure broke into their home.It was a demon.
They froze in horror. (Y/N), still just a small girl, didn't understand what the creature was—but she was terrified. She clung to her mother's kimono, trembling.
"(M/N)! Quickly—hide (Y/N) somewhere safe!" her father shouted.
"But what about you?!" she asked, panicking.
"I'll be fine. Just protect our daughter!" he ordered.
Tears welled in her mother's eyes, but she nodded. Carrying (Y/N) in her arms, she rushed into their bedroom and gently placed her inside a large barrel filled with wisteria flowers.
Before closing the lid, she handed (Y/N) her teddy bear—the one they gave her for her third birthday. She kissed her daughter's forehead and whispered with a trembling voice:
"I love you, (Y/N). Your father and I love you so much. Please be a good girl and stay hidden until morning, okay?"
Innocently, (Y/N) nodded and smiled, unaware of what was to come. Her mother gave her one last look—a tearful, heartbroken smile—before closing the lid and returning to her husband.
—Time Skip—
The demon finished feeding and fled just before sunrise.
(Y/N)'s P.O.V
Sunlight peeked through a crack in the barrel, gently waking me. Still holding my teddy bear, I crawled out of the barrel, confused and sleepy.
"Otō-san? Oka-san?" I called softly as I wandered through the house.
Then I saw them.
There they were.
My parents.
Lying still... in a pool of blood.I froze.
The air left my lungs as I dropped my bear and staggered toward my mother's lifeless body.
"Oka-san... pl-please wa-wake up... it's morning already," I whispered, my voice trembling.
No response.
I shook her gently—then harder. Tears started falling from my eyes.
"Oka-san! Please wake up! You and Otō-san can't leave me alone!" I screamed, sobbing as I shook her more desperately.
Nothing.
"Oka-san! Please don't leave me! I love you! I love you both!"
My cries echoed through the now silent house. I finally collapsed in a corner, clutching my teddy bear—my only comfort.
"Oka-san... Otō-san... you're gone... What will I do? I'm all alone..."
I cried for hours, my tiny body shaking from the pain. My tears soaked into the fur of my teddy bear—the last memory of the family I had lost.
