[Library Romance] Note Exchange

Chapter 2

The bell rings, which signals the end of the period and the time for lunch break. The sound of students chattering and packing of their things could be heard inside the classroom.

"Hey! Allen, let's eat lunch together.", a girl with short brown hair said.

"Uhmm.. I'm sorry, Fia. I need to study.", the boy with glasses hastily replied.

"I see. Good luck with that! I'll be at the cafeteria if you need me.", the girl he called Fia stated before she was gone.

"Can I come along? I need to study too.", asked the spiky haired boy who was behind him.

"Sure.", he shortly replied. He started to gather his things and stands up from his seat. He started walking towards the door, going outside of the classroom.

"So, where are we going to study?", questioned the spiky haired boy as he follows Allen behind.

"Library.", he responded.

"Which subject are you going to study?", asked again by the spiky haired boy as they walk through the hallway.

"I don't know, Jess. I'll just pick randomly, I guess.", he replied with a sigh. They entered the library as soon as they got in its front door. They were greeted by the librarian with a smile, then they proceed to the near bookshelves.

"So, what are you gonna study, Jess?", asked Allen while checking the books in the bookshelf in front of him.

"How about we both study physics?", Jess suggested, grinning at Allen from behind.

"Okay. Let's check the most quiet place here first.", he began walking between bookshelves, going further to the far end part of the library. Jess was just following behind him. He was getting close to his destination when he suddenly stopped, Jess bumping his face on his back.

"Ow!", Jess exclaimed and earned a "Shh!" from Allen.

"Why did you suddenly stop?", Jess whispered as he was holding his nose which was aching from the sudden impact.

"There's already someone in the quiet spot.", Allen whispered back to Jess who was peeking on his shoulder trying to see who was that person. The person they were talking about was immersed in a book not minding her surroundings. A realization came to Jess as he stared at the girl who was quietly seating there doing what she was doing.

"That's number one! The genius of our school. The unapproachable stoic girl, Angela.", Jess explained lowering his voice. An obvious excitement can be seen in his face while Allen gave him a puzzled expression. Allen glanced at her form for a few seconds then back to Jess.

"Are you sure she's stoic? I've seen other expression on her face while reading a book, you know.", Allen argued raising a brow to Jess.

"You're a stalker?", Jess gasped.

"No, I'm not! I just always see her here in the library. That's all!", Allen explained as Jess squinted his eyes at him.

"Come on! Let's go find another place.", Allen suggested as drag Jess by a hand moving out of the place. Jess started to tease him as they walk away. When they were out of sight, the girl who was reading a book was now facing the place where Jess and Allen was standing.

Hmm? I thought I heard noises from there. Must be my imagination. She was about to continue reading the book she was holding when she saw something lying on the floor. She stood up from her seat and goes to pick up a piece of paper.

Someone must have dropped this. She scanned the piece of paper she retrieved and studied its content. It was a homework in Trigonometry due today. She could see that some answers were correct and some errors were made.

I have to get this to the owner. I still have time before the lunch break ends. She decided to continue reading the book she was interested in tomorrow. She put a bookmark on it and returned it to the bookshelf were it belongs. As she was about to go out of the library, she checked the paper once more before proceeding her way to the correct class she was going.
