Continued from The Past...

I was sitting on the bed of the room I was staying at since four years. I packed all my luggages and being prepared for my departure. The glowing rays of the Sun were coming from the window; sky was clear blue with the tint of yellow. It was the 16th hour of the day; the Sun was going to set soon.

My Dashee (female servant), Mayna was preparing our departure from here with her husband Baidanath who was one of the guards of this palace. They would put the food and water at Pakli (palanquin); as our journey was going to be long. We would reach by tomorrow early afternoon.

Soon after coming to this place they found each other while working here; fell in love and married. Unlike the royal people there was none to object their relationship; freedom they got fully.

I am very much happy for them!

One year after their marriage, Mayna gave birth to beautiful twins, a boy and a girl; non identical. I got attached to them in the initial days; but later on hold my feelings as I was not stable emotionally; on the other hand royal people couldn't be associated with the lower class people; it was forbidden.

And I hate it!

I was looking the portrait beside the window; darkness had consumed it completely, as it was the opposite side of the window; light wasn't falling on it.

Just like our relationship. Irony isn't!

My last wish before leaving from this palace was to see his face; which I knew that wouldn't be fulfilled.

I had met with the King and the queen just few moments ago; I wanted to make our last meet earlier as possible. They were preparing for the upcoming marriage. The health of the King had degraded more from our previous meet, yesterday and it was concerning me more.

My eyes fell on the window. The rose plant was on the wooden slab of it, moving it's leaves with the rhythm of gentle cold breeze of hills. I went near it.

The Sun was setting, now at it's horizon. Thinking about thousands thoughts I couldn't keep the record of the time properly. As the time of leaving from here was coming fast I felt my stomach bubbling with nervousness.

Sighing deeply I touched the plant. Unconsciously I touched my left ring finger on it's thorns deeply.

"Aah" I grasped lowly. Blood was coming out from my finger; I cleaned it with my Sharee (Indian traditional clothes for female). Usually it didn't happen to me since my childhood as I was handling them since being a child.

Something in my mind was making me worried; I couldn't pinpoint it. My instinct was detecting something bad since last day after meeting with the King and Rani maa (queen). Their smiling faces came to my mind, suddenly while looking at my blood.

Will they be alright?

Hesitation was the thing that he was feeling since the morning. He couldn't gather his thoughts which he would going to share with her. It was the first time in his life when he felt terrible with words, specially with his childhood friend.

His nervousness and anxiety leaded him for going to her at the late afternoon just when he finally decided to talk with her.

The Sun set on the West and moon started to show up over the sky. The palace was lighted with the pradeeps (lanterns made of clay) and the Mashals (flares).
