"We still have some time before we have to meet dad, you know," Dinah said as we made our way off the Brooklyn bridge. "We can explore a little bit."

"I think that's a great idea," I smiled.

After finding a good place to park the car, her and I made our way to the Fulton Ferry State Park. Dinah strolled over to the view of the Brooklyn Bridge, leaning over the railing as a small breeze blew through her hair. I smiled and came up behind her. I snaked my arms around her torso before feeling her melt into me. I could feel her aura mellowing out as I kissed her cheek, my lips slowly making their way down to her neck.

"I know I said this before," she said as I held her closer, "but I'm so happy we finally found you..."

"I'm so happy I was found," I smiled as I whispered in her ear. "I know I've missed so much with you and your father. And there's a lot I have to learn about myself. But I can't wait to teach you everything I know."

Dinah turned her body before she put her hands on my sides.

"I know that you're still discovering who you really are," she said. "We both are...but you've been more in touch with your supernatural abilities than I have. And I know that...some of, if not, most of your teaching methods would be considered "taboo" by normals, but I'm more than ready to learn."

The yearning in her dark eyes had me wanting to get us back in our car and get home quickly. It wasn't until I saw them starting to gray out that I realized our bodies were beginning to steam. To tame the tension, I planted a lingering kiss to her forehead. She took a deep breath as her hands slid down to my hips, me still holding her. Our foreheads met as I looked into her eyes, smiling at the sight of them returning to their natural brown color.

"I have no doubts," I uttered.

Her eyes shifted to my lips as a smile graced hers, causing her to bite her lip. I chuckled before grabbing her hand to hold.

"Let's go meet your father."

After returning to the car, Dinah and I made our way to King. Him and his partner, who I believe is Jason, were waiting for us at a Mexican restaurant. I parked my car in a nearby garage before making my way to the restaurant with Dinah in toe. I lit up at the sight of my King. He smiled before bringing my body into his for a kiss.

"I missed you..." he whispered against my lips.

"I missed you too," I smiled as I caressed his face.

"How'd it go?"

I looked back at Dinah as she and Jason smiled at one another before he pulled out a chair next to him for to sit in.

"It was perfect," I smiled before looking back to King. "Our daughter is amazing."

"She gets it from her mother," he replied before giving me a wink.

I blushed as he pulled out my chair, me sitting across from Dinah while King sat across from Jason. I could see her trying hard to hide her blush and couldn't help but chuckle.

Just be yourself, baby girl, I thought to her while looking over the menu.

Her eyes looked to me before she nodded her head.

"So Jason," I smiled, "King tells me you're one of his best scouts."

Jason smiled humbly.

"I'm only as good as my boss," he said. "Been workin' for this man for quite a few years. He's basically family."

I smiled as King beamed with pride.

"Have you always been a New Yorker?" I asked.

"Not always," he replied as our waiter brought water to our table. "I'm originally from Honolulu. But my parents and I moved to Iowa when I was really young."

"Iowa,"  I said before taking a sip of my water. "That's quite a jump. May I ask why you moved so far from home?"

"My people were uncomfortable with who I was. Called me a demon every chance they could. I mean they were right, but no kid wants to hear that everyday. So my parents decided that moving far enough way where we could truly start over was for the best."

"I'm so sorry to hear that. But with how far you've come, I'm sure your parents are very proud of you."

"I think they'd be very proud."

I looked in worry from Jason to King while Dinah held Jason's hand.

"Jason's parents died when he was eighteen," King said.

"Oh I'm so sorry," I said before rubbing Jason's arm.

"It's okay," he grinned solemnly. "We weren't welcomed all that well when we moved to Iowa. Our neighborhood was predominantly white. And we were the only minority family within miles. Some white supremacist punk broke into our house one night. I guess to try and prove a point or something. He pointed his gun at my mom...pulled the trigger...my dad jumped in front of her and took the bullet. Went straight to his heart. Soon as he dropped, my mom was next to be shot....right in her head. My whole body just filled with anger and the next thing I know,  the shooter's body falls limp on my living room floor while his head's hangin' from my hand. King showed up in my doorway and took me in. Been workin' with him ever since."

I looked into Jason's eyes and saw a sinister darkness that matched that of King's. The burly Hawaiian smiled before dismissively shaking his head.

"That's how I got my nickname you know?" he chuckled.

"What nickname is that?" I asked.

"Beast."

I smiled as everyone laughed around the table.

"I assume the particular work you men do can be a little taxing on your body. Theta Beasts has a few training facilities you're welcome to use if you need to. I might even join you."

Jason's eyebrow quirked up as he smiled, Dinah mimicking the same expression.

"You can get down Miss Knowles?" Jason asked.

"Are you kidding?" King chuckled. "Her first training session had me thrown against the pillars at least twice!"

Jason let out a hearty laugh.

"Looks like you finally met your match old man."

King looked at me as I winked his way, a smirk appearing in his lips.

"...in more ways than one..."
