I first saw you on a September day
Made me feel things I wish I'd never felt
Too often, you took my breath away.

Then came the winter, cold, lonely and hopeless, too
Grey, a color I despised before you
A color I hated after you

I wish you'd known that nothing sounds too crazy for a girl who's been cold her entire life if it might make her feel less alone.

And you were there all through-out that winter
You were grey
But you colored my days.
Songs were written about you
Battles were fought for you.
Lost because of you.

Then spring came along, new colors appeared.
But you were never forgotten.
