I was lying on my bed holding my graduation certificate and reading it for the thousandth time. Though I graduated two days ago, I hadn't gotten out of the house yet. I reached for my phone to text my friends Narita and Kinoshita.
Me: Hey, anybody awake?
Three dots show on the screen as I imagine both of them tap on their phone screens.
Narita: Hey
Kinoshita: What's up?
Me: Not much, how about you guys?
Kinoshita: I'm going to be in Tokyo with family for the rest of the break
Narita: So you won't be here for the movie debut?
Kinoshita: Nope. Sorry I didn't tell you guys sooner, my family decided that yesterday would be a convenient time to tell me
Me: Dang. Well, make sure to have fun!
Kinoshita: K, I'll talk to you guys later
Narita: Bye
I decided to directly message Narita so I wouldn't disturb Kinoshita.
Me: Do you want to watch the movie at the same time?
Narita: Sure. At ****** Theatre?
Me: Let me check with my parents
I take a few moments to stretch and then make my way down. Once I reach the bottom of the stairs, I look around and find my dad making breakfast and my mom washing the dishes.
"Good morning," I manage to say while yawning.
"Good morning," my parents say in return.
"Is it okay if I could see that new movie with Narita when it comes out?"
"Sure!" my dad responded with little hesitation, "And breakfast is almost ready."
"Okay! I'll be back, I just have to text Narita really quick," and with that, I sprinted up the stairs.
Me: My parents said they're okay with me going
Narita: Awesome! I'll see you then! Unless you want to meet before hand since the opening date is pretty far
Me: Sure!
///Time skip to opening night of the movie
I arrived outside of the theatre, and even though I had what seemed like enough layers of warmth, it certainly did not feel like it. I tried to distract myself with the newly bloomed Sakura, but that wasn't working. I looked around, and my eyes finally found Narita. I ran up to him and jumped on his back as a substitute to saying hello.
"Who the hell are you!?!"
I should've just yelled hello.
