(This takes place in their second week of school)

I got up from the sound of my alarm.  I woke up and was somehow wide awake.  I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, then back to my room to put on my uniform.  I grabbed my backpack and headed down the stairs.  I walked into the kitchen and grabbed my lunch, then put it in my bag.  I made sure I had enough money for breakfast, then left the house.

I walked on the pavement, the scent of Okonomiyaki being made floating in the air.

As I approached the vendor, I saw him handing Tanaka his.

"The usual?" the vendor asked.

"Yes, please."

After a couple of minutes of drooling from the smell and the looks of the food, it was finally ready, and I handed the vendor 800 yen while saying, "Thank you!" and walking away with Tanaka.

For a few minutes, all we could hear was the birds, our feet, and the quiet chewing of Okonomiyaki.  By the time we had both finished our food, we were at Karasuno.

"See you at lunch," I said as he replied with a, "Yup."

The school day was average other than the fact that there was a project due soon.  At lunch, us first years would eat together everyday.  Today, we were going to eat at Kinoshita's classroom.  I was the first there besides Kinoshita since my classroom was nearby.

"Hey," I said, approaching his desk.

"Hello," he said.  He looked like he wanted to say something.

"What's on your mind?" I asked him.

"Well," he started, "Have you ever-"

He was interrupted by Tanaka barging into the room, rushing up to the desk where we were sitting, leaning in and saying, "Carry on."

I said, "We weren't doing anything.  I just got here," to cover Kinoshita's case.

Not too long after, Narita and Nishinoya entered the room.   The rest of lunch was pretty much just updates on classes and eating, occasionally a joke was cracked.

Then, after a few more classes, it was time for volleyball practice.  Once we got to the gym, the captain said he had an announcement to make.

"Sawamura has found the club a manager," the captain said.

"Who is it?" Tanaka asked, his excitement seeping out as he spoke.

"Her name is Shimizu Kiyoko," the captain said, "She's a second year."

"Okay, time for practice!" Coach Ukai said walking into the room.

We all started to clean up, and ended up getting done pretty fast.  We headed to the club room to change and then left.
As Tanaka and I headed down the hill, he said, "Are you excited about having a manager?"

"Eh, sure," I told him.

"I wonder how she'll look," he said.

"She'll probably be really pretty."

"Yeah, probably," he said, then mumbled something that sounded like, "Not as much as you."

I crouched down to hide my face in my knees.  Did he really just say that?  No, I must've just been hearing something.  He would never say that.  Nope, never.

I snapped back into reality when he said, "Ennoshita, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm just a bit tired from practice."

"Come on, sit on this bench over here," he said, "Sakanoshita isn't too far, so I could grab the pork buns while you rest."

I obliged to go along with the act.  I watched him walk off until he became too small to see.  I looked up to the dark sky.

Part of it was being blurred out by a nearby lamplight, but I was still able to make out a few stars.  I closed my eyes and let the cool breeze rush over me as I heard crickets and other bugs.  I dozed off a little and woke up from a feeling on my head.

I opened my eyes, and Tanaka was right in front of me.  Before I could even try to react, he stuffed a pork bun into my mouth and sat next to me, starting to munch on his own as he slouched and pulled in his legs.  He looked at the ground with wide eyes, then to the side.  I made sure to sneak some yen into his bag for the cost of my pork bun.

I took a bite on the bun then said, "Wanna start heading home?"

"Sure," he said with his mouth full.

I stood up and said, "Come on, then."

He stood and started walking with me.  Once we reached the bottom of the hill, he said, "Are you feeling a bit less tired?"

"Yup," I told him.

I heard somebody messing with my backpack, but when I turned around, there was nobody there.

"What's wrong?" Tanaka asked.

"Nothing, I just thought I heard somebody touching my bag."

I saw him let out a breath and say, "Okay."

"So," I started and saw him tense up, "How do you think the manager will be like?"

"Well, she'll probably be pretty normal.  Nice personality, decent looks and all," he said.

"Well, what if I told you I know her?" I said, and I don't think he saw that I was lying.

"YOU DO!?!" he yelled, so loud that it made a couple of dogs start barking.

I looked at him with a deadpan expression, and he took the hint saying, "Oh."  I chuckled slightly and he smiled.

"You're too much," I said in a light tone and pushed his shoulder slightly.  He pushed me, then I pushed back again, and the rally lasted for about 3 minutes before we fell into another round of awkward silence.

After a couple of minutes, we made it to my house and I told him, "Bye," as I entered through my door.  And I heard part of a bye as my door shut.

When I got inside, I threw some food into the microwave and headed upstairs to plop down my bag and prep for homework.  After not too long, I hear the microwave beeping, so I head down the stairs and grab my food.  I filled up a glass with ice and water, and started to head up the stairs with my dinner.

I managed to finish most of my homework and ended up exhausted.  I decided that I would work on it either tomorrow or Sunday, and flopped onto the bed without putting away my stuff or even changing my clothes.

Before I slipped into slumber, my mind flashed with a familiar face, and I fell asleep with a smile plastered onto mine.
