"Who the hell are you!?!" I exclaimed as I felt a sudden burst of pressure on my back and someone latching onto me, almost losing my balance.

Silence for a few seconds.

"Um," they said while slowly attempting to climb down, "Sorry, I thought you were my friend."

After he got down, I turned around. The moment I saw him, I felt like I was being strangled for a split second. Despite the negative sound, I don't think it was necessarily bad.

"I guess it's fine, just don't keep jumping onto strangers like that. You never know how they'll react."

"Okay..?"

I started to head into the movies, I couldn't wait any longer for my friend, it was way too cold.

As I opened the door, I heard somebody yell "Chikara!" I looked back and saw the guy who jumped on my back and the back of his friend. I guess the friend kind of looked like me from behind. They looked around my age from their height.

As I walked into the theatre, I felt a weird feeling overcome me that I only had a basic idea of, but I brushed it away as I felt a little bit warmer.

•Chikara Ennoshita•

I saw my actual friend running towards me and yelling, "Chikara!"

"Not so loud!" I replied in a not so quiet whisper as he got closer to me.

"How have you been?"

"Why are you talking like you haven't seen me for years? I just saw you on Tuesday."

"Fair point."

I felt like I was being watched, so I looked around and saw the stranger from before as he resumed looking away and heading into the building.

"Actually, something happened that was probably the most embarrassing moment of my life. You might want to hear it."

"Spit it out," he said as we entered the theatre.

"That movie was the best I've seen in a while," Narita said as we got out of our seats.

"Same here. Except I don't watch new movies that often," I said while stretching and trying to wake up.

"If a sequel comes out, I would definitely watch it."

We headed out of the screening room and into the lobby, to eventually make it outside.

"See you at school on Monday?" I asked.

"I have no choice, it's the first day back," he replied.

"True, bye."

"Bye."

It was a pretty normal walk home. It was pretty quiet with the exception of crickets, and the lamplights would flicker every now and then. Every couple of minutes, I would hear dogs barking as the cold taunted my nose, making me want to sneeze but then canceling on the last second. After about 15 minutes that felt like 30, I made it home and flopped onto my bed, too tired to eat dinner or properly get ready for bed.

As I was falling asleep, my head woke up and my head filled up with thoughts. I hate when this happens, but I might as well go with it. At first, I started thinking about going back to school and how tomorrow would be my last day off. My mind somehow wandered to remembering the movie, then remembered the stranger. Now that I thought about it, he looked like he was around my age. Guessing by his build, he probably plays a sport. He seemed pretty nice, I probably should have found a way to contact him since it's a pretty slim chance that I'll be able to see him again.

Eh, no point in pondering on something if you can't change it. I closed my eyes and hoped that my mind would quiet down, and it actually did for once.

In the morning, I changed my clothes before heading down and eating rice, miso soup, and grilled fish for breakfast. After I finish that up, I go upstairs to make sure my backpack had what it needed for tomorrow. I made sure to pack notebooks, writing supplies, and my volleyball equipment.

For the rest of the day, I did some light practice with volleyball, made my lunch for the next day, and just relaxed. In the evening, I ate my dinner, got ready for bed, then went to my room.

I turned on my phone.

Me: Anybody still awake?
Narita: Yup
Kinoshita: Same here
Me: Wyd?
Narita: About to sleep
Kinoshita: Nothing, really
Me: Are you guys planning on joining any clubs? I'm going to sign up for volleyball
Kinoshita: That's what I was planning on doing
Narita: Same

I looked my clock.

Me: I have to go to sleep, I'll see you guys tomorrow
Narita: Bye
Kinoshita: Bye

After that, my mind went blank for once and I was able to fall asleep easily.

My alarm was going off like crazy. I hit the snooze button in case I don't make it out of my bed, but I end up sliding off anyways. I turn off the snooze and start getting ready. I lazily pulled on my uniform while stretching and yawning, brushed my teeth, grabbed my back, and walked down the stairs.

My parents were at work, so I just put some bread in the toaster to eat on the way to school. I filled up my water bottle as the toast sprang up from the toaster. I headed out of the door and locked it before I started on my walk.

It was slightly cold and I could see the surrounding trees now painted with pink, white, and red from the Sakura. I smelled Okonomiyaki being made by a nearby vendor, now wishing that I made a more filling breakfast. There was not much to hear besides the sounds of my shoes hitting the ground and birds waking.

Before I knew it, I made it to the school, Karasuno. So that I wouldn't forget, I turned in a sign-up form for the men's volleyball club before heading to class. The school day was pretty average besides the orientation. I already had about five assignments despite it being the first day.

During lunch, I sat down with Narita and Kinoshita, and we just ate while Kinoshita was telling us about his trip to Tokyo and Narita was telling Kinoshita about what I did on Saturday. I could tell he was suffering from second-hand embarrassment.

The day went by pretty fast, and class was over. I started to head to the gym, where I was pretty sure we had to meet for the club. I headed inside to find people, which I assumed were third and second years, handing out papers to the three first years that were already present. I only recognized Kinoshita and Narita.

"Welcome to the Volleyball Club," the third year who passed me the paper said. He was probably the captain.

Not too long after I came in, a boy who's black hair was spiked up entered. I recognized him as the libero that was named best libero in the tournament last year.

As the captain was about to start talking, somebody barged into the room.

It was him.
