When I woke up that morning, my neck was pretty sore. Perfect way to start off the day, am I right? I got up and rolled my neck around a couple of times to be met with excruciating pain. I decided to just keep my head tilted a certain way, moving it little by little so I didn't end up getting killed.

By the time it was over, I was about to change into my uniform. So, I did that and fixed my hair, heading out of my room for breakfast.

"Good morning," my mom said as I entered. My dad was sitting next to my mom at the table, already eating.

"Good morning," I said as I sat down and started eating breakfast. She made rice, grilled chicken and heated up some curry left from a meal a few days back.

The time flew by while we ate, and before I knew it, I was almost late to leave. I yelled bye as I stepped outside and started the walk. It wasn't too long, but I had to make sure I got there in time for practice, or Coach Ukai would chew me out.

For a few minutes, I was just walking alone along with the cold air seeping through my clothes. It crept up my back and targeted the tips of my ears.

Moments from yesterday came back to my face, along with a smirk. I had a feeling that Ennoshita had a crush on somebody, and now I had proof. With the way he reacted to me backing out, he just had to have a crush on Tanaka. I had a feeling he was catching onto Narita and I, though. Saturday was enough evidence for that, and I started thinking about how Ennoshita said he's been shipping us for so long. I know Narita likes me, but how long has he? He didn't tell me that detail during his confession.

Yes, he confessed. And yes, we're dating. We have been for about a week, but I haven't really told anybody. He went all cliché and did it by the sakura one morning. But I loved every second of it. I actually had a crush on him since early March. I'm pretty glad that he confessed first, I could probably never build up enough courage to.

"Hisashi!" I heard in a familiar voice once I wasn't too far from the school gates. I turned around and saw Kazuhito jogging to catch up to me.

"Hi," I greeted, "You might want to save that energy for practice, though. You'll need it."

"Nah, I'd rather spend it on you," he said while looking at me, and I was coated in a layer of blush. Of course, he chuckled at this, and we reached the gates.

Finally, lunch break rolled around. Today, we were sitting at Narita's class. As I made my way over there, I saw Nishinoya staring around a corner.

Going into the same position he was in, I settled beside him and murmured, "What are you doing?"

He jumped at my statement and quickly said, "Nothing!"

I looked at where he was and saw one of the members from volleyball club delivering some papers to a girl. "Ooh~ a girl, huh?"

He hesitated for a moment before saying, "Oh, yep," and scratched the back of his neck. He seemed oddly suspicious, but isn't it ordinary to act like that after those actions?

"Okay, see you later," I said, and continued down the hall, eventually reaching the classroom. When I walked in, it was only Narita there. I went to sit next to him and he nodded at me, mouth full of food.

Once he had swallowed it down, he said, "Hi, Hisashi. How's your day been?"

"Pretty good, just figured out I have a test on Friday, though. What about you?" I asked as I heard a faint sound from the front of the room.

"Same," he said, then put another serving into his mouth.

I started eating and zoned out for a minute. While I was zoning out, I remembered the thoughts that went through my head this morning.

"Kazuhito," I said, and he looked up at me. "How long have you liked me as more than a friend?"

He sat with wide eyes for a couple of seconds before saying, "Wh-what do you mean?" and signaling above me.

I looked behind me and saw Ennoshita just standing there with a smirk on his face. Welp, shit.

"Continue," Ennoshita said as he sat down, resting his head on his hand.

"Continue what, exactly?" I said, hoping that he didn't see or hear everything.

Apparently it showed on my face, because he responded saying, "I saw everything, you don't even have to try pretending anymore."

At those words, I buried my face in my hands and brought me knees to my chest, and it wouldn't be surprising if I was blushing.

"Well, don't act like you don't have a crush on somebody," I mumbled, and he shut his mouth.

Satisfied, I went back to my normal position and continued eating. Not too long after, Tanaka and Nishinoya walked in.

"Why are you guys so quiet?" Nishinoya asked, sitting down.

Before Ennoshita could spill anything, I just replied, "No reason, just hungry."

"Okay," he said, and started eating to catch up with everybody.

Our area was filled with pretty much utter silence as we ate, three of us being awkward and the other two just plain confused

The captain and coach wrapped up the evening practice with a pep talk and the upcoming date of the Interhigh. Once that was done, Narita and I were spontaneously put on cleaning duty, and the rest of the team rushed out with a speed that took even the Tiny Giant out of the picture.

We ended up accepting our fate and started cleaning. The first minute felt like an hour since there were no words spoken between us. That was at least before an idea popped into my head.

"Kazuhito," I said, and he responded with a hum. "How long have you liked me? I mean, as more than a friend."

Silence reigned again for a few seconds before he said, "Almost a year now, actually."

I froze. A year? That long? I mean, I knew I was dumb, but this is on a whole new level.

Once we finished and made our way to the club room, the exhaustion started to kick in. Coach Ukai's training was getting harder every day, and I had considered quitting the team.

"Are you okay?" Narita said, clearly reading the mood.

"Yeah, just tired from the training."

"You sure?"

"Yeah," I said, then followed him out of the room.

The walk to the gate was quiet between us, only accompanied by the crickets and soft breeze. Soon enough, we were at the spot where we had to part.

"See you tomorrow," I said, and started to walk off. Well, that was before he grabbed my arm. He turned me around and tipped my head up slightly to steal a kiss.

"Nice chapstick flavor," he said, light laughing littering his words.

"Why, thank you. I'm flattered," I said in a sarcastic tone.

"I know you might not want to, but can we just sit here and talk for a few minutes? I don't want to say goodbye yet, and talking over the phone doesn't feel the same."

"Sure."
