The Pledged Passerine [3]

The sparrow gracefully lands on the windowsill

outside its master's bedroom;

this is its routine after all.

It begins to chirp to the tune

that its master would often hum.

This is its way of asking to enter

and waking its master up at the same time.

Then it patiently waits

for the gentle hands of its master

to open the window so it may enter,

while staring at the blue sky.
