"Liliana M. Thats what she said"
The team was inside the hospital conference room going over the new lead in the case. The case files were sprawled out along the large black table with the entire team leaning over it to see their material. They usually used a whiteboard, but they didn't have access to one here at the hospital.
"We already know that this unsub's motive has some sort of religious significance,"
Prentiss spoke, sitting down in one of the chairs at the far end of the table.
"So what does this Liliana have in common with that?"
The team was silent for a moment, trying to think of a valid response.
"She wouldn't have trusted me if the Liliana she was speaking of hurt her in some way. She would have retaliated or started to panic."
Giselle spoke with her finger placed gently against her chin. She paced back and forth in an attempt to speed up her thinking.
"Maybe Liliana was another girl who was taken by the unsub and now acts as a mother or an older sister to these girls."
The rest of the team uttered various signs of agreement before Morgan picked up his cell phone off of his desk. He began to dial Garcia's number before Hotch stopped him.
"Hernandez,"
Oh lord,
Giselle thought.
Here he goes again.
"What do you have to back this up?"
Hotch spoke in a manner that made Giselle's skin crawl with frustration and anger. But she forced herself to stay civil. She couldn't lash out in front of the team, but she could attempt to put him in his place.
"Sir, I was making a mere suggestion."
Giselle crossed her arms as she spoke, seeing Reid watch her intently out of the corner of her eye. Morgan stood up straight, surprised that Giselle had spoken without backing down. Hotch tilted his head to the side and scrunched his nose. But he didn't respond. He just gestured to Morgan to simply make the call and to move on.
"You have reached the goddess of all things techy and brilliant! How may I be of service?"
Garcia's voice chimed through the phone.
"Hey, Garcia- its Giselle. Can you check and see if there are any missing persons cases in the Arizona area under the name Liliana last initial M?"
The violent clacking of keys was heard loud and clear by the entire team.
"Bingo! Liliana Morales, age 13 went missing from her Arizona home in 2002. Nobody has seen or heard from her since."
"That was 10 years ago,"
Giselle looked up from the phone and over to Reid.
"She must be 23 by now. That fits."
Giselle took the hairpin out of her hair and let her dark locks loose as she put her hands down onto the edge of the table, leaning forward.
"Garcia, can you send us a picture of Liliana?"
"Sure thing!"
Moments later, Giselle's phone chimed and she opened the file that Garcia sent her.
"Holy shit."
And as she showed the rest of the team the picture of Liliana, they all had the same reaction.
