today, i'm gonna be talking about one of the most underrated movies of 2019.

ad astra.

i first saw this movie about two or three weeks after its release. at first, i had pretty high expectations for this movie. i thought it was going to be matched with the martian and interstellar, but i didn't like it that much.

at first, i thought it was too slow and boring. i felt that some of the climactic scenes were just thrown in there just for people to like the film.

i saw the movie for a second time when i went to the movies with a good friend of mine. the second time around, i loved it. i felt more comfortable with the dialogue, i felt a stronger connection with roy mcbride (played by the lovely brad pitt) and i felt the climax fit well with the story.

the cinematography is very underrated. i think that this film should have been a nominee for best cinematography at this year's oscars, but sadly it wasn't. i felt like the sound mixing nomination wasn't enough for this film, and ad astra deserved a lot more.

besides being nominated for best sound mixing, ad astra should have been nominated for: best cinematography, best visual effects, best sound editing, and best film editing. this film wasn't really worthy of a best picture nomination imo, but i felt that this film deserved more than one nominations.

if you haven't seen ad astra, i totally recommend it! brad's acting was not his best, but i think this movie is underrated and deserves a lot more attention.

if any of you did end up watching this film, feel free to message me! i would love to hear your thoughts on this movie to not spoil the movie for those that haven't watched it.
