Well I know father said I can go see Kristy but to be honest I just want to stay home and make sure I’m prepared for the first day of school.

I find it very embarrassing if I show up late on the first day of school because I can’t find my socks.

I put together my lunch, grabbed my uniform off the line and folded it up neatly on the end of my bed.

I walked out into the kitchen to find that father was still in bed.

Well, I guess that means I am in charge of dinner AGAIN.

I mean I don’t mind helping out once or twice a week with dinner but I have made dinner every day this week.

Hm, Spaghetti Bolognese again tonight, I thought to myself.

Boiling the water, I heard a key turn in the door and in pops Veronica with a bouquet of roses.

‘Boy, you have some nerve showing up here’ I rolled my eyes at her.

‘Shut it child’ She snapped at me. ‘Darling, where are you?’

‘He is asleep Veronica, don’t wake him’ came Hayley from the hallway.

‘Fine, ill just wait here’ She said taking a seat on the sofa.

First of all, how does she have a key?

And… She can’t just show up here uninvited, I mean I don’t even think they are dating yet.

Crap, what if they are dating? She did walk in calling him darling…

That would make her… like my stepmother!

I grabbed a vase off the shelf, filled the bottom with water, snatched the flowers off Veronica and slammed them in the middle of the table.

‘Beautiful’ I said smiling.
