‘Sorry Kristy’ I said ‘but father would not be fond of you sticking around because he doesn’t know that your father doesn’t live with you anymore, but ill explain…don’t worry’
I ran back inside leaving Kristy behind with an expressionless face.
I walked inside to father sitting on the sofa with a cup of coffee.
‘Sit down’ father said.
I sat down on the sofa as I was looking at Haylee because I knew she had told him.
‘There is something I need to let you know before you start hanging out with Kristy again’ He told me.
Oh no, what do I say… obviously Haylee had told him how else would he know… Just play it cool
‘What?’ I asked ‘I wasn’t with Kristy?’
‘Hun’ He began but I interrupted.
‘I mean of spoken to her once or twice in English’ but father stopped me.
‘I saw you in the kitchen window’ Father said disappointed that I had lied.
I sat quietly because I knew I was in deep trouble now so there was no point trying to fight back.
‘Mr. White killed your mother’ He said beginning to cry.
‘Don’t take this the wrong way but I knew and you don’t have to worry about me hanging out with Kristy because her father doesn’t live with her and he left them as soon as he killed mother.’ I said hoping he wouldn’t get mad.
‘You knew!?’ Father looked up with his puzzled and distraught face. ‘How did you know?’
Okay so at least I knew he wasn’t angry he just was confused on how I knew.
‘Uh’ I shuddered. I didn’t want to get Haylee in trouble; we had been getting along well lately other than the fact she was sitting across me giving me the puppy dog eyes not to tell she was eavesdropping.
‘Kristy told me!’ I blurted out.
‘When?’ He asked calming down.
‘This morning’ I said.
I could see he was putting the pieces together in his head because he stopped and thought.
‘Well then your not to see her’ Father said.
‘Father!’ I began to explain ‘I told you, she doesn’t live with her father anymore and it has been like that for a long time, can I please see her, she wont do any harm!’
‘Does Haylee know?’ He asked.
‘Uh, she knows now’ I said winking at Haylee.
‘Sweetie I’m going to bed this is very overwhelming, you go find Kristy I give you permission to spend time with her, be back by seven’
Ugh I hated it when he did this, it’s like his body just brakes down so he goes to ‘lie down’ to recover.
Other than that I found it pretty cute that Haylee ran up to me when father left to give me hug.
