Veronica had been at home all day cooking up a storm, didn’t know why as she was never much of a cook.
Laid out neatly on the bench were Red Velvet Cupcakes, Chocolate Banana Swirl Cake, Shredded Chocolate Coconut Bars as well as Fruit Punch on the table.
‘Cupcake?’ Veronica asked.
I put my nose to the cupcake; surely she had done something to them.
‘No’ I shoved it away.
She turned around to the stove, putting a ladle into a pot.
‘Dinner?’ She asked me with a smile.
‘Cupcakes!’ Haylee screamed running down the hallway.
I got myself a spoon out of the drawer and tried some of the soup.
Not bad.
I had finished the bowl before I knew it, still puzzled why Veronica was in a good mood.
I went into my bedroom and finished my homework from English today and once I had finished I got in the shower and brushed my teeth ready for bed.
I slowly drifted off to sleep peacefully as Mr. Fluffletoes purred in my ear.
Father woke me up late the next morning so I arrived to school at recess.
‘Brittany!’ I yelled, chasing after her.
‘Soz, hunny… cant talk…I have cheerleading practice with Tahlia, toodles’ she said waving.
Tahlia had changed her, she didn’t say soz, didn’t say toodles, didn’t do cheerleading and definitely did not wear make up!
I went and sat by myself in the cafeteria, as I didn’t have many other close friends I could sit with.
Time went by, I had art and then I had English where I then handed my homework in from last night.
I don’t know why but I felt like I hadn’t seen Brittany in months when I really just saw her at recess.
I went to walk beside Brittany after class when she suddenly rushed off with Tahlia.
‘Sorry! I’m eating with Tahlia today’
I felt like she now just wanted to get away from me.
I ran after her ‘Britt, can we catch up after school?’
‘Soz, I’ve got dance practice with Tahlia’ She yelled back.
‘Of course you do’ I whispered to myself.
